BJ, or Boyd Johnson, thinks himself the ladies man. He couldn't be more wrong, but that doesn't stop him from trying to woo the fairer sex when he can.
Holly is Melvin's crush. After the genie incident, Holly is aware that Melvin likes her, but there is a little too much strangeness surrounding Melvin and his friends for Holly's liking.
At first when we saw Holly, it didn’t look like she was interested in Melvin. But, later in the series, we find out that what appeared to be a disinterested Holly, was the fear that she would be seen to be the friend of the three Nerds. So she was mostly thinking of her reputation when it came to being seen spending time with Melvin, so she shied away from choosing to be with Melvin. We find out later that she kind of like Melvin and Kattgirl kind of mentions Holly in kind of a dream state with Melvin having some influence, which it may have, but, there was also some interest there before that time.
But, now that Clearance is now Tiffany and she going to be spending a lot of time with Melvin and BJ, Holly fear of being around Melvin because he a Nerd, will probably chance too. Matter of fact, she might even be a little bit jealous of Tiffany being around Melvin a lot of the time and not her being around Melvin. Holly fear of Tiffany are completely unfounded, but, Holly doesn’t know that.
@Larry I think you may be confusing Holly with Not Holly, who actually did a little cameo a couple of pages ago, but in regards the real Holly, she seemed to be fine with Melvin, with Saachi being actually really fond of him, the problem has always being on Melvin’s inability to speak to her
Though, I admit that Melvin spending his free time with an actual model is something that shouldn’t pass unnoticed.
@Kattgirl – maybe it’s up enough that Holly will have to fight Not Holly for him. I mean, she (Not Holly) might see Melvin as a prize to be won from the model, which would most likely lead to the highest of jinks. Or, at least, us finally learning Not Holly’s actual name.
Is Melvin going to be introducing Red to Saachi? An insecure guy in a girl body, but, still identifying as a guy looking for a girl.
Or is Melvin going to be introducing Tiffany to Saachi? A guy that function more like a girl and maybe not interested in girls right now.
Even with Saachi keeping her end of the bargain, Melvin might now be able to keep his end of the bargain. Thing have kind of changed since the last time Melvin seen Red or maybe Tiffany. Almost anything can happen at this point.
My compliments on the dialog; it’s getting lots better. The last comic was very natural; the conversation flowed nicely. I liked the change in Tiffany’s attitude. She no longer acts horrified at Patricia’s hints; that’s a good adjustment.
I suppose we should start to see Tiffany gradually getting use to this kind of girl talk, because, she been a girl for about five to six month now. When Patricia first started making those suggestion to Tiffany, Tiffany had only been a girl for a month or less. Tiffany was still responding the way a guy would respond to a suggestion like that, but, she gradually starting to act and talk more the way a girl will talk and act. They been calling her Tiffany for three months during the Summer Vacation now too. The only place that she can be called Red is around Melvin and BJ, which will generally be primarily on the week ends. So she gradually getting use to being called Tiffany.
When formerly Clearance told Melvin and BJ her new name was Tiffany, but, she want them to call her Red in protest to being called Tiffany, it was five months or longer ago. It look like Tiffany is gradually coming to terms that she a girl on some level and at least is starting to function the way that a girl does.
And before someone says something, I didn’t say that she like being a girl or even like being called Tiffany either, only that she is gradually choosing to deal with the situation that she in, whether she like it or not.
Huh. So now Holly has a crush on Melvin? Interesting, very interesting . . . I wonder how things went at the end-of-year dance? You know, the one where Melvin and Saachi were supposed to set each other up with Holly and Red, respectively? Mayhaps a flashback is in order . . .
Why is Saachi so popular? I like her just as much as anyone else, but she’s made so few appearances (compared to the main cast) that I don’t understand why I like seeing her show up.
@He Who Abides I am as surprise as you are with Saachi’s popularity, in fact, on may original plan after checking on Red we were supposed to make a quick transition back with Kazom, the butterfrog and Nel… nevermind! In any case, after reading so many comments about Saachi, I decide it may be for the better brining her back early, alongside Holly of course, who I wanted to start giving my own take on her character.
To be honest way back in the day, when I was just reading through the comic, I thought that Saachi’s introduction drag for a little to long, but looking back, she is actually a really fun character with a well define personality, and I can tell you now, she is surprisingly fun to writhe, even if she isn’t the easiest character to do so, you can check back on her tag to see what I am talking about, but it will be quite evident in the next couple of pages.
Saachi is really expressive with her hands too. She kind of an odd ball kind of person that bouncing around all the time. She seem to have a tendency to break the mood of some people in some instances and change the mood of people into something else at her very presence or the way she acts. Most people that aren’t part of the main character of the plot, seem to be kind of flat people with no dept, but, Saachi with her had waving, break that tendency with her character. That all that I can say about the matter.
I don’t think there’s any correlation between popularity and number of appearances. Some characters become almost instantly popular; others are there practically forever, and yet never rise above the level of background noise.
In Saachi’s case, I think it’s the possibility of hijinks with Red, Holly & Melvin, that intrigues people.
Personally, I’d like to see Ida show up again. I like her because she’s smart, cool & capable. And seemingly well on her way to becoming a member of Melvin’s inner circle.
So Holly has a crush on Melvin now there summer what fully happened?
She probably spent a good chunk of the summer re-re-re-analyzing her dream about Melvin. Now she finally has a chance to investigate.
At first when we saw Holly, it didn’t look like she was interested in Melvin. But, later in the series, we find out that what appeared to be a disinterested Holly, was the fear that she would be seen to be the friend of the three Nerds. @Carlos:
I imagine his stock has gone up quite a bit at school, due to that.
Hmm! Looks like Saachi is fulfilling her part of the bargain with Melvin. Now he just needs to introduce her to Red.
The question here is:
Is Melvin going to be introducing Red to Saachi? An insecure guy in a girl body, but, still identifying as a guy looking for a girl.
Or is Melvin going to be introducing Tiffany to Saachi? A guy that function more like a girl and maybe not interested in girls right now.

She still prefers being called Red though.

“Some enchanted evening…you will see a stranger…you will see a stranger ‘cross a crowded room…”
I feel obligated to point out the appearing, disappearing tan Holly’s got in panel 3.5.
That’s called being “flushed”. As in, Melvin having caught her staring at him, in panel 3.
That does not look like a flush
@Mulgarath:
Well, okay, it could be a straight. Or even a straight flush. But definitely not a full house.
“Never play poker with a plumber. They get a flush every time.”
Yay, Saachi’s back!
Why is Saachi so popular? I like her just as much as anyone else, but she’s made so few appearances (compared to the main cast) that I don’t understand why I like seeing her show up.

@Kattgirl – I get that (I was a Mirta fan when Winx Club came out), but I couldn’t figure out the reason Saachi specifically was popular.
