Chapter: Getting Back Into the Groove

Red has a lot of explaining to do. Just in case if Patricia finds out Red or Tiffany used to be a guy.
They’re at an all girls school, so you’d think Patricia doesn’t also ask if Red likes girls. Which seems to be the case going by some older strips. Like she has said she peeps at Ida while they were changing and still thinks she’s hot.
Patricia may not think that way. Being at a single-gender school doesn’t necessarily mean anything more than that your parents have money.
True, but experimenting isn’t uncommon and statistically there probably are more than few girls that are into girls.
Anyway, since Ida noticed Checking her out, i’m surprised no one at the school has noticed something similar. Unless Red is just more discrete when school than with Ida.
It probably is a lot more common for women to be checking each other out in a non sexual way than for boys. So unless Red was leering no one probably noticed any thing wrong with her.
Sizing up competition and checking out each others fashion is a staple of womanhood.
I like her friend Patricia. It’s nice that Red has managed to make at least one friend who isn’t wrapped up with the magic crowd. And she’s got a good attitude.
And a friend at the school that isn’t picking on her or sucking up.

Patricia seem to be a real friend for the time that she known Red, which is about five to six month or so. Through no fault of her own, she doesn’t know the real story about Red being a boy that been turned into a girl by a Genie. She know Red by the name of Tiffany who she thinks has been a girl from birth, so she thinks that Tiffany like boy and is interested in boy the way that most girls are interested in boy. She has no idea that Tiffany see the other boys the way that another boy would see a boy and not like a girl. So Patricia is jumping to the wrong conclusions and will continue to jump to the wrong conclusion until she find out that Tiffany use to be a boy or unless Tiffany or Red come to think of herself as girl and/or desire stay a girl and then naturally develops desire for a guy instead of for another girl.
In the meantime Patricia isn’t going to understand why Red or Tiffany isn’t interested in Marvin or BJ and it only on a friendship basses that she interested in either Marvin or BJ.
Do you mind if I ask why you keep spelling Melvin as Marvin?
If they’re talking earrings, are they talking piercings?
That would be my guess. It’s kind of a rite of passage.
We can assume after five of six month and being a model, that they have already pierced Red or Tiffany ear to put ear rings in her ears for the War Mallet or for modelling too. But, it doesn’t seem that Red has any personal ear rings or her own. Which beg the question of Red even having her ears pieced even or at least she doesn’t have any ear rings for her ears. Which Patricia seem to want to correct, which is something that Red trying to avoid if at all possible, but, without being obvious that she avoiding it.
For modelling, maybe, but War Mallet? Why should warrior wear earrings?
That’s not a valid assumption. Earrings are often available as clip-ons, and if not, you can temporarily glue on anything you want, for a photo.
I think she hasn’t gotten piercings yet, and Patricia has been trying to get her to do it. It fits with the personalities.
Awkward conversation is awkward.
Of course everyone assumes that Melvin is still infatuated with Holly, I hope. Careful Red. Patricia will go on a hunting quest to find you the proper boyfriend. I can see it in her eyes. Never stand between a woman and diamonds, chocolate or romance.
Patricia is definitely on a mission to make Red proper girl with her own boyfriend. Look out Melvin! Here come Patricia gunning for you to have a date with Red and make you her boyfriend!
It look like Patricia trying to play match maker with Red and Melvin. We could have a counter move by Red to match up Patricia with Melvin and/or Holly to try and Red side step Patricia efforts at match making for Red, which she doesn’t want. It could be both interesting and a complicated affair too.
Diamonds are overrated. The only reason they are so expensive is because of artificial scarcity. Now Emeralds, Rubys, and Sapphires, that’s where it’s at.
Red just needs to explain that since she grew up with Melvin and BJ that she only sees them as brothers and can not think of them any other way. And that Melvin is interested in Holly and BJ is chasing after/pining over Clamor. Sadly for Red, that likely will only mean that Patricia will be looking for other boys for Red.
I find it very hard to believe Tiff has avoided getting her ears pierced this long considering she has been modeling for months.
Also what is she embarrassed about in the first panel ? Is her brain changing to a girls brain? Her body languages is Japanese school girl when she mentions her friends.
In the last panel she has a look of disappointment and resignation from Melvin being some what involved with a girl. Hopefully we can find out if she is jealous or if it is something else.
Ever heard of clip ons?
Imagine that? I punched on what look like Patricia picture and sent me back to where it Patricia and not Ida that is talking to Red. I thought it was a wrong link at first and then looked down at the bottom and saw Patricia Stockman in the tag line. This is the first time we see Patricia. But, Red ran into Patricia about a month or so earlier at the all girls school. Before Red, Melvin and BJ had there rumble with that sleaze ball Liam and his mother during that contest that Liam messed up for everyone, because, he a rich bastard. But most of the rest of the time it was Ida that was talking to Red and it was Ida that put the whammy on Liam.
This Red meeting of Patricia, would have had to have been a week after Clearance became a girl and his parent removed Red or Tiffany from public school and put her in private school where she meets Patricia. Then it another month before the contest and one to two months after that, before summer vacation that we are now just finishing up. So Patricia has probably known Tiffany or Red for about two to three month and has come back to meet Patricia after summer vacation.
So Red basically has two girls that she friendly with right now or that she can call her friends. Ida and Patricia.
It’s all really a wibbly wobbly timey whimey thing.
Wait, what happened to Shachi? She and Melvin had a deal to fix Melvin up with Holly if Melvin would set her up with Red.
