Meet JJ, everyone! She’s BJ’s little sister, and she’s…uh… a bit eccentric. Yeah, let’s call it that. đ
Surprisingly enough, Carlos didn’t come up with her entirely out of whole cloth. BJ’s sister was mentioned exactly once in Bach-Mann’s run of the comic.

Honestly, what started as innocent references on my “new” character are making me feel old now! Also, minus 3 points to anybody who doesn’t know what the triforce is!
Do they not use the Triforce in the new Zelda games? I haven’t played any since Twilight Princess, honestly.
That is quite probably the most rational terms of point penalty I have ever heard.

No the Triforce is very much still a thing. In Hyrule Warriors and A Link Between Worlds it was a major plot point, hell the crux of the problem in ALBW is that Lorule lost its version of the Triforce and requires a wish from the Hyrulean counterpart to restore it. Funnily enough In Breath of the Wild the Triforce isnât really named, at least not in the main story. Itâs still seen as a symbol of the fallen kingdom of Hyrule and the shape that Seldaâs Sealing Power manifests as so it is still very much a thing.
Thank you all for helping me with that badge, it brought back memories of playing the Zelda games.

I don’t, it’s a cliche. I’m glad that all Melvin and BJ have other love interests.
Isn’t she a little young to be a Naruto fan? Most of the people who grew up on Naruto are in their 20s or early 30s.
Like i feel it would make more sense for her to be a My Hero Academia fan than a Naruto fan.
Maybe she’s retro. But, really with the newer Naruto shows with the kids she may be watching those.
Don’t forget that MC takes place a short, though indeterminate, time in the past. Jeanie Bottle started in 2009, and is basically taking place in “the present”, along with Melvin. But that can be any time in the last 10 years or so without really having any major effect on the plot.
Also, this is the era of streaming services. Just because Naruto is over now, doesn’t mean that kids can’t still watch it with the click of a mouse or the tap of a smartphone.
Not really. Most kids these days would know Naruto as “Boruto’s dad”.
It’s like how Mazinger Z was huge for my parents generation of anime fans, but not in mine.
JJ just found a SasuNaru fic during the summer and now it doesn’t matter where the fandom is right now, or whatever the canon ending may be, she is going down with that ship! Here you have a little piece of lore trivia that would never be touch upon the main comic, enjoy it!
SasuNaru or Sasu!FemNaru? By her look in panel 3, she seems to like the genderbend concept quite a lot. I bet her Zelda obsession comes from FemLink fics. (This would be pre-Linkle, since this comic is 2010ish).
@Ran-san: Because of the Sexy Jutsu and since it seems she likes gender bender, i can see her being into SasukeXSexy Jutsu Naruto specifically

@Carlos – I don’t know if “going down with that ship” was an intentional pun or a happy accident, but either way that is great wordplay.
“Going down with the ship” is TVtropes speak for defending one’s ship to the death when one ships a set of people/characters, even in the face of the canon declaring somebody else to be their One True Partner.
Ok, JJ is a TOTAL geeky fangirl. She’ll fit right in with the rest of the cast.
All I can say is, if JJ grow cat ears and tail, I am going to think that Clamor is her birth mother or something like that.
But, it is interesting that she keeping tabs on BJ, Melvin and Red. She in the know as to what there doing.
But, she is right, they are kind of being Nerd or Dorks. but, then she kind of a Nerd or Dork too.
@Larry: “Keeping tabs”? Well, she’s BJ’s little sister, you can count on it that she’d spy on them.
@Kattgirl Isn’t that what all younger Brother and Sister do? They spy on there older Brother and Sister to see what there doing, but, I think that JJ is going a little overboard though, about seeing almost everything there doing. She also seem to think that BJ, Melvin, Red/Clearance and Kazom are there for her amusement or joy and to satisfy her pleasure also.
She has the making of a female jerk and that sometime can be the worst kind, because, they can turn on the charm and catch you be surprise. I see a bomb shell ready to go off here at the hands of JJ, BJ little sister. I bet we see her turning on the charm on Melvin to try and set thing off too. She seem to me to be that kind of girl too.

Also, JJ would slap anyone who call her Dork, she is clearly a “Cool Geeky Girl” not like her dorky brother at all! ?

Hmmm, maybe? She seems to be into gender-bender, but does it count as slashfic if one of the guys is a girl now?
Honest question, any kind of fan media that involves a Rule63 character falls under what category? are Ranma-chan and Ryoga still appealing to fujoshis? who is the target audience for a Naruko and Hinata work? these are the kind of questions that need answers!… no, really, I still need to know to who I am selling this comic.

Honestly, the gender bender/gender blender category is kinda like one of those foods that can be served either on it’s own or as a topping on another dish. My own deep-seated obsession with it stemming from a MASSIVE overdose of Ranma 1/2 around the turn of the millennium (word to the wise, kids: if you have to take an unplanned week off of work for whatever reason, do not spend it binge watching ALL of Ranma 1/2 in one sitting if you wish to keep your sanity intact) means I automatically gravitate towards any fic or comic with gender bending in it. However, of the pairing choices above, I’d prefer the !GirlRanma/Ryoga fic than the !FemNaru/Hinata fic. Not because of the characters…just because that’s how my tastes run.
However that’s just me. Someone that’s a yuri fan on top of a genderbend fan would choose the !FemNaru/Hinata fic, because that’s a “two for the price of one” deal for them. Yaoi fans cross less with the genderbending…because female-to-male genderbending is less common than male-to-female…and is usually in the same work (i.e. Having one of Ranma’s fiancees [usually Akane] afflicted by the Nannichuan water).
@Mulgarath Is most of a matter about figuring out a good way to sell the story beyond the old readers, is my first public project after all, and as grateful as I am to all of you for giving a chance to my take on the story, I would like to introduce new readers too! But being an spin off and also having a long previous run on which I didn’t have any imput make it a hard sell on new readers, the fact that there is also a language barrier with my close circles IRL doesn’t help either. Talking with Robert, the best resume I could make of the story was “Harry Potter lives on California with a grumpy Genie cat and his best friend is Ranma Saotome!”.
For now I just started a to use a DevianArt account, and I am trying to promote both MC and JB, but I am still thinking on new ways to promote the comic.
@Carlos This is one of the places that CD Rudd started at and I think many of the readers come from seeing Jeanie Bottle on DevianArt Account too. That where I first ran into the Jeanie Bottle series before he came over to this sight. So that a good place to plug this series too.
So you will get a lot of Ranma fans, Kampfer and there are a few other too. So you can consider your primary audience to be either someone that like to see a Guy turn into a girl on a regular bases like Ranma or Kampfer. The other primary audience will probably be people that would like to see how the Guy that turns into a Girl deals with the fact that there a girl now.

On my personal tastes. In these kind of fics, I could see Red start liking guys (or if it works better for your readerbase both) but still feel the need to be dominant. You know play up the princess angle in a different way. Sheâs not the princess because sheâs spoiled, but because sheâs in charge. At the same time she DOES have a kinder sweeter side that she shows to her friends. Oh crap! Did I just describe a Tsundere without the viloence? That wasnât my intent. But either way my point was that she would NEVER be submissive.
You know, now that I think about it If substitutes âconfused by emotionsâ for âtsundreâ then She could have good reasons to be one if she starts being attracted to guys. Her sexuality would have done a 180, and she doesnât now what to make of it, and to top it all off itâs hard to explain WHY she us feeling confused to people, without explaining that she used to be a guy. This can be interesting in multiple ways.
For example what happens when Red heard about the date with Sachi? Whatâs the first thing that goes through Redâs mind? Is it I am lucky? Might be so because there wasnât much thought into it? Or is it why is she asking me out? Red might worry about the latter. Because they are concious of their status as a former guy turned into a women. So he might think is ot obvious I am attracted to her? Or did she Jeannie poof me into a guy? Either or possible answers. Also what if Red goes on the date with Sachi and isnât as attracted to her as she thought she would be? Or as another possiblty she IS attracted to Sachi, but ends up being just as attracted to if not more so guys as well?
These are good questions to ask. That can be played for drama and come dy SIMULTANEOUSLY
Slashfic? I’m thinking more yuri than yaoi, since Red is the one that seems to make JJ’s face light up.

Almost, Jenifer Johnson, like BJ is Boyd Johnson, her character description will be added in due time, but for now we are about to met “new” characters pretty soon, so the cast page would be updated once all of them have been introduce.
Also, I see JJ more like one of those fangirls who romanticize the idea of LGTB love on fiction, so Yuri, Yaoi, gender-bender… as long as it is hot and “forbidden” is good for her, bonus points if there is a love triangle involve.
She needs to wear a Rule 63 T-Shirt at some point. Just sayin’.
Her mom running a magic shop probably raised her expectation on the Melvin magic situation.
If the art could be about 10% smaller, but the writing 20% larger, then it would be easier to read. That is just going on how I have to fettle about with screen sizes to read it. Also JJ has a point, especially about Red. Where ave all the genderbender wacky hijinks comedies gone? Everyone is trying too be woke and realistic about it, even old Exiern has gone so very dull over it.
Ok, this was MY mistake, what happen was that I mess with the canvas size of pages 4 through 8, so they are almost the double of the size of the standard we use for the comic, at least on their original format, that’s why once they are reduced to fit on the site they may come as a little hard to read in certain monitors, with that said, we already catch the problem, and all future pages starting from 9 should have the correct size from now on!
No comments about Red’s story arc yet, but I can promise wacky hijinks in general!
I STILL like the idea of her being an ACTUAL magical princess. But Iâll take whatever you deliver.
Still I am adamant that given what we learned about BJ she should have her own secret magical heritage. Because OF COURSE she will.
