Wow. This may be BJ’s first date – ever!
Not only is she unused to being treated as a person, she’s obviously also unused to dealing with players.
Maybe for their one-month anniversary he can get her a flea collar. Gift-wrapped. 😉
Poor BJ. I don’t see that working out for the best. But good luck man! She looks like she needs someone who appreciates her!
I don’t know how it happened but… I would ship this! Go BJ!
Didn’t know he was into that sort of thing.
BJ is into girls, and Clamor is a girl, more or less.
More so than some human girls, at least once she’s treated like a person and not a tool. Depending on how archaic Lorion’s attitudes are (for example, in 17th Century Germany, it was common for nobles to direct their servants in the third person — “She will clear the table”), this may be her first experience of being considered as herself and not as an extension of Lorion.
I can see BJ getting a subscription to Cat Fancy…
Hey look guys, BJ is Being BJ! That said, BJ is setting something off that going to be more than he bargained for, because he setting something off that going to get very emotional real quick between him and Clamor with her new desires to have BJ for her boyfriend. He lighting fire that he not going to be able to put out.
Jealousy and all! Along with other things that will go with it.
Remember that Clamor is a Cat familiar and her sexual desires have probably been swashed either because nobody was interested in her or she didn’t have an opportunity to engage in that activities. Besides, she been too busy being a familiar than thinking about her own sexual desires or by trying to satisfy them. That going to chain with the entry of BJ on the scene and remember cat and dogs go into heat too. Some time in the not too distant future when Clamor let down her guard, she may go into heat and then what is BJ going to do.
BJ you fool!
But, like I said: BJ going to be BJ and do stupid thing like BJ does.
What if BJ has “Mad Game” with supernatural creatures. He wouldn’t have to pretend to be interested in their lives because he’s all about that crazy stuff.
I am thinking that Lorion doesn’t treat Clamor as more than a minion either.
It sounds like it. Clamor seems to think of herself only as a servant (and is probably treated thus by all of the Witches whom she knows), so having someone human, even a Mortal, thinking of her both as a person and as a romantic prospect, is new to her.
All sentient beings should be treated as person and not just as a useful living tool. This is probably the first time Clamor has been seen as a person.
Will she transfer her loyalty from Lorion to BJ?
Can she?
It disturbs me that Lorion does seem to treat her as little more than a minion, a slave even. That does not speak well for Lorion’s character. It suggests that Mel should be cautious about accepting guidance from him.
===
That said, she doesn’t strike me as being terribly smart, or capable of acting on her own without supervision. She is in some ways a child.
She needs someone to look after her, care for her, guide her. Someone who has her own best interests at heart.
Is BJ up to the challenge? Can he avoid the trap of worshiping her figure, and forgetting her needs as a person? She’d probably enjoy being worshiped for awhile, but soon enough she’d lose respect for him.
(Will she transfer her loyalty from Lorion to BJ?)
No, she can’t, it not in the program of what she can do.
(Can she?)
No, she can’t, she is basically just a tool and that how Lorion see her and from his point of view withhis relationship with Clamor, there is still no reason to see her as anything other than just a tool. Matter of fact Lorion doesn’t think of her a sentient being even. Even after she became his familiar, that would cause her to become sentient being. “IT IS COMPLETELY OUT SIDE OF HIS SIGHT LINE AND WHAT CLAMOR HAS BECOME”! Matter of fact Clamor thinking the same way Lorion see her too. That is until BJ show up to say and do what he does.
(That said, she doesn’t strike me as being terribly smart, or capable of acting on her own without supervision. She is in some ways a child.)
I don’t know if say that she not smart would be the right word, but, definitely ignorant of what going on would apply here. She think a lot like a child in her out look, but, children eventually grow up and develop there own view and standards. But, in Clamor life, that part has been retarded or restricted.
remember that she is just waking up out of a sleep of just seeing herself as a tool to actually being someone that is actually someone that fantastic in the eye of BJ. This is absolutely new to her and her mind is going to go nut over that idea. So for the next few post in this arc, Clamor going to be rethinking her position as to who she really is and what her relationship to Lorion should be. Which is going to cause Lorion a lot of problem
(She needs someone to look after her, care for her, guide her. Someone who has her own best interests at heart )
Your right that what she needs, but, neither Lorion nor BJ could do that for her. She basically on her own with this one. But, she will learn thou, but, there will be all kinds of problems before she does learn.
(Is BJ up to the challenge?)
No, but, he can really create a mess thou, which is probably what will happen.
(Can he avoid the trap of worshiping her figure, and forgetting her needs as a person?)
No! What I see happening is that it may start off worshiping her figure, but, that he will start get to know her as an individual and start to developing feeling for her and he may even fall in love with her. As she opens up to BJ and BJ will probably open up to Clamor, I see the relationship developing over time.
(She’d probably enjoy being worshiped for awhile, but soon enough she’d lose respect for him.)
For a short period of time, it might actually be beneficial to Clamor to help her to develop a healthier sense of net worth to herself. But, I would expect Clamor to reciprocate with when it comes to helping BJ develop a healthier since of net worth too. I think that she would probably have grateful heart or spirit to BJ. Beside, BJ is going to be one of a kind to Clamor. Even with all his fault and short comings.
I see a very rocky road between these two and I see a relationship developing between them. Whether is goes sexual or not, is still to be determined.
“No, she can’t, it not in the program of what she can do.”
Requires facts not in evidence. That’s why I posed it as a question.
“I don’t know if say that she not smart would be the right word,”
She at least has a lot of growing up to do, true. But you know, some people are just smarter than others. (I’ve known plenty of folk smarter than me.) And there’s emotional intelligence to consider. (I’m kinda on the low end of that scale, I’m afraid.)
And as you say, the way she’s been raised has not been conducive to exercising either one.
I bet she never loses that hair trigger temper of hers.
“(Is BJ up to the challenge?)
No, but, he can really create a mess thou, which is probably what will happen. ”
I think only the very rarest of human beings are up to the challenge of raising a child when they become parents–and yet by and large most of us meet that challenge. Our children raise us.
I’m not judging BJ yet; let’s see what develops.
And no: being worshiped is bad for humans. Being appreciated, loved, admired, yes, all good. But worship grants far too much power to its object, and immature as she seems to be, Clamor would get sucked right in. She would never settle for anything less, and her demands would increase without limit. She would never be satisfied, never be happy.
She is a born follower; she needs a master. (So does Jeanie, by the way; Neil’s been derelict in his duties there.)
BTW, Clamor will test any new master. BJ’s going to have resist that, and it will be hard.
On Lorion’s character, he seems as though he holds all non-Witches in contempt to a degree, whether they be non-humanoid, mortal humans, or even fellow humanoid magical beings such as Genies. He has the sense to act civilly when it would inconvenience him to anger someone, but it’s clear that he considers Witchkind (and his particular faction and ideology) to be superior. I expect that a large part of why he wants Melvin to be educated by the Azure clan is so that Melvin can be indoctrinated in the “appropriate” prejudices and not be a Genie-lover or Mortal-lover like Thomas.
She is a cat. So… feed her and you are hers.
I can’t understand how a cat could ever be a servant or minion to anyone. In ancient Egypt they were worshiped as gods. They have never forgotten this. So this whole servant/ minion thing is way unrealistic to me.
If Clamor is indeed a familiar, then she is basically a cat. An, anthropomorphized cat, but still a cat. Cats will choose certain people, seemingly at random, to rub against and sit on their lap, etc. They’ll still stay with their “owner,” but they have weird attractions and mercurial moods. BJ will need to be careful about scratches during passionate activities . . . 😉
Cats don’t have masters—they put you in charge of feeding them and they’re in charge of everything else. (Yes, I know Clamor called Lorion “Master,” but maybe it’s a term of endearment here.)
They’re in charge of everything else they care about. Which is typically not much.
Clamor is a familiar, though, which means that despite having certain cat tendencies, like KILL! she is at least obedient to her master within her capabilities.
It would seem that Clamor identifies herself as a “girl” , a personable one, not just as a female of the race of genies. Methinks she dreams of knowing better those pesky “humans”, and how they interact with eachother, and perhaps, some other inquiries she doesn´t still realize. She doesn´t just wants to be a minion, it´s just that she doesn´t know it now, herself. Ah, the joys and tears of self-discovery. Youn´uns.
