BJ, or Boyd Johnson, thinks himself the ladies man. He couldn't be more wrong, but that doesn't stop him from trying to woo the fairer sex when he can.
Red was a boy until a new genie tried to get Melvin a girlfriend. That's when the genie turned Red into a girl so Melvin could practice talking to girls, and forgot to turn her back before disappearing. Red is hopeful that her situation is only temporary.
If by “that”, you mean the shot of Red crying, no. She’s wearing the dress she wore to that party in the previous chapter, so it’s much later than that. If “that” is the promise that Melvin made, I’m not actually sure when that was supposed to have happened.
Or possibly a which or familiar or a toad or something like that.
Even as much as Melvin want to help Clarence or Red or Tiffany, at least she still a human and not some animal or plant or some object. Melvin should leave well enough alone, but, we know that he won’t and so he will just mess thing up more than there already messed up. We know Melvin, he doesn’t know when to keep his nose out of stuff.
Oof. Between Tiffany here and Anderson over at IDoaJB, it’s just . . . could someone please, for the love of all things good and right, throw a pie or something?
Just by the by, what are those non-English terms JJ is using in her thoughts, and what do they mean? Also, wasn’t she wearing pants earlier?
I don’t know enough specifics to properly define them all, but they’re all anime terms. If you google “anime oujosama” (etc.) you’ll probably find the answers I don’t have.
Sempai: upperclassman.
Yandere: girl who’s so obsessively in love with you that she’ll menace/kill anyone who might take your attention away from her.
Yeah, having take Japanese all four years of college, I often don’t even notice that some people wouldn’t recognize japanese-origin terms sprinkled into a conversation.
Anyway, an “ojousama” (“o-” honrific prefix, “jou” meaning young lady, and “-sama” honorific suffix given to people of greatly higher status than the speaker) is a girl who acts like a high-class lady, often with the arrogance that comes with it. Several of the girls from Tiffany’s new school would qualify.
I do like how JJ is sitting there plotting out the potential relationship diagram while BJ and Melvin have their argument.
I forgot to reply to this cause everyone already explained the Japanese/anime terminology in the page, but in regards your last question, JJ has always being wearing shorts, but looking back, that’s only visible on the files, and not in the proper pages. Sorry for the confusion!
@Robert, ijuinkun, and Tom Sewell – thanks, guys. I was never enough of an anime fan to know all of those terms. Or maybe I was watching the wrong anime, who knows.
@Carlos – yeah, I did check after posting originally, and realized that we never saw enough of JJ to tell those were shorts. S’cool, though, since we were distracted by her . . . relationship theories.
Um, looking at that last panel, I have a pretty terrible theory about the party. I hope I’m wrong, but I’m suspecting that Melvin put the mood-swing spell on Tiff because her depression was upsetting Saachi, and he was worried that she would torpedo his chances with Holly. I really don’t want to be right about that, but being in love can make people do some . . . less than wise things.
@Robert – going back, yeah, we did. The look on Melvin’s face and the picture of Tiff crying in the last panel just made me think he had ulterior motives for some reason.
And if he should tell you, “you chose her,”
And if he tempts you with alarms,
Tell him no no no no no-no-no-no
No no no no no-no-no-no
No no no no no
And hurt him now for this love is wrong, you see.
Melvin’s reverse spell will only last until midnight and then Red will turn back into a girl–Cinderella.
Holly will find J.J.’s journal and the secrets will be out.
Melvin also did things he wasn’t suppose to do too and Holly was the recipient of some of that crap too, which he doesn’t want her to know about or what he did to her. Them cap that off with Melvin being incredibly shy of girl and they seem to intimidate him any way.
Roger Rabbit explained it. You can’t do it until its funny.
Oujosama-Japanese for a “daughter’ or “young lady.”
sempai-Japanese for an”Earlier colleague or mentor.”
Yandere-Japanese for LOVESTRUCK
Your description lacks context.
Ojou-sama is a stock character, usually a rich, or in some way upper class young woman, who is incredibly snobbish and condescending and usually has a particularly obnoxious laugh.
Yandere tend to be more than just lovestruck, they tend to be obsessive stalker types who sometimes get violent if the source of their obsession shows interest in someone else.
@Gary you mean that JJ could be like the proverbial like in the “curiosity killed the cat”. Have JJ wondering around looking into places that she not suppose to look in or at Then open the wrong bottle to have a look see and be turned into a Genie. Then have her come back to BJ to tell him that she a Genie now only to have BJ tell her that he her new Master. I would love it, pervact ending for such a nose girl prying into things that she has no business doing.
Curiosity did kill the cat and teenage girls. J.J. is really nosey and as a genie she could not mess with free will but if the will is already there she has free rein. Melvin has a crush on Holly. Holly has a crush on Melvin. Sachi has the hots for Red. Red has the mind of a teenage boy but the body of–WOW. never mind. and B.J. has a rush on a cat. What could possibly go wrong putting power into the hands of a teenage girl. It would make Jean look normal.
Is that from when Clarence was first transformed?
If by “that”, you mean the shot of Red crying, no. She’s wearing the dress she wore to that party in the previous chapter, so it’s much later than that. If “that” is the promise that Melvin made, I’m not actually sure when that was supposed to have happened.
I seriously doubt this attempt will be anymore successful then the last Melvin…
Your best bet is to try and find Jeanie again (or at least someone more experienced in magic) to undo Red’s transformation.
Agreed. Melvin would be best off asking Kazom how to track down Jeannie.
But of course, that would ruin the story, so he’ll never think of that.
Or, all the meddling with various sources of magic has altered the original spell so much that Jeannie can no longer fix it.
Seeing as Red was transformed by genie magic, I wonder if there’s a chance this time that Melvin will turn Red into a genie.
“some routes for girl Melvin when it happens again”
Have I missed something?
Girl Melvin.
Oof. Between Tiffany here and Anderson over at IDoaJB, it’s just . . . could someone please, for the love of all things good and right, throw a pie or something?

Ojou-sama is also used to address or describe females who have much too high opinions of themselves.
I forgot to reply to this cause everyone already explained the Japanese/anime terminology in the page, but in regards your last question, JJ has always being wearing shorts, but looking back, that’s only visible on the files, and not in the proper pages. Sorry for the confusion!

@Abides: I thought we already learned what happened at the party, though.
@Robert – going back, yeah, we did. The look on Melvin’s face and the picture of Tiff crying in the last panel just made me think he had ulterior motives for some reason.

Heh, I like that first idea. The second one sounds terrifyingly hilarious.
The obvious person to get JJ’s diary is BJ, but BJ could be in big trouble if he gets caught. Here’s an example from Mike Talley
I forget, is there a reason he can’t just tell Holly the truth?
He’s a teenager? lol
For real, though, I think he’s been sworn to secrecy among people who don’t already know about his magic. I’m not actually sure.
Melvin also did things he wasn’t suppose to do too and Holly was the recipient of some of that crap too, which he doesn’t want her to know about or what he did to her. Them cap that off with Melvin being incredibly shy of girl and they seem to intimidate him any way.

Red needs a hug.
Do that and she will probably belt you one too!
I’ll take it.?
I hope Red ends up being transformed into a genie like Jeanie, pink veil and pink costume and pink bottle. It would be awesome!!!
J.J. being transformed into a genie junior grade would be even more so. That girl is living in a romance novel.
