# 68 Back Stepping to Reality
Hey kids, looks like the old adage is true, we are the last ones to know.
Don’t let it get you down though, we’re all on the same page as to when to VOTE!
( pssst… it’s now)
Sincerely,
BACH-MANN & Shhadow

Well, that must be a terrible realization to BJ’s self-image. May knock his ego down a peg. I’m curious on what he’ll do in response in the next few strips.
BJ may try starting a conversation with girls now instead of hitting on them. Once you know you’re a creep, you can be helped. Now he needs to find ways to be less creepy, more respectful and friendly. JROTC could help.
It’s obvious that now when he “knows he’s creep” he instead of hitting girls will STOP interacting with them at all. Which is pretty realistic: he’s not jerk. He just don’t know how to interact with girls normally and this kind of immediate rejection will not help him learn. But hey, not interacting with girls is respectful, right?
It is respectful actually.
Point of order: One open handed slap, in response not to any touch, not even to speech, but to a stuttering failure to speak, is illegal battery. Nevertheless, it is the traditional response of women to creepy males, and no erring gentleman would correct it, but would accept the judgment against him and move on.
Two slaps is definitely pushing things, though.
A sock, which to me implies a fist, is right out. A man would, at that point, be well within his rights to restrain his attacker–then to release her and walk away. This would demonstrate that he is a man to be reckoned with, even if he fumbled his initial approach.
BJ just lost huge, huge points. Even Melvin is calling him on his retreat. The giggling of the feminine peanut gallery is devastating.
He has a long climb ahead of him.
And by the way, no, he is not a creep; he’s a poser and a loser. Not quite the same. A creep is a loser who signals his potential willingness to force his attentions where they are not welcome or even tolerated.
So he is a creep then, because you are describing him.
Oh, dag nab it!
I just realized Saachi didn’t do a darn thing! That is all BJ’s imaginings!
(Clue: the shifting skin hue of “Saachi’s” hand.)
That’s why he’s a loser: rather than assuming the sale, he assumed his humiliation–and got it.
Of course the girls are laughing at him. Not because he’s a creep, but because he’s just demonstrated that he’s actually afraid of girls.
No female can respect or even like a male who is afraid of her. Matching Saatchi’s coldness would have been far more attractive than this abject retreat. (Especially to the other girls–he would have just demonstrated high enough social value to turn down a hottie like Saatchi for disrespecting him.)
The “shifting skin hue” actually proves this is not SEQUENCE, but him remembering three different events.
Not imagination, but memory. He suddenly saw the disappointment in Saachi’s expression and remembered previous incidents with other girls. He probably just brushed off the previous slaps as “playing hard to get” or some similar rationalization until Melvin *wished* for him to see how inept he was with girls. All that hitting him at once is going to have an effect.
Yup, that was a sure reaction to Melvin’s thought wish. He will need to realize soon that he is doing this or something he serious does not mean might really happen.
I’m not sure that’s it’s memory, but regardless, yeah: this is the fulfillment of Melvin’s wish, another point I missed.
If it is memory, then he is definitely a creep. Slapped three times, no wins, and he doesn’t figure it out until Melvin’s wish prods his butt hard enough to pop his head out of it?
My read is that he’s been using memorized pick up lines without understanding how they’re supposed to work. Good on him for trying, but man. Three slaps.
And that craven retreat. Wow, that’s going to be hard to live down.

And Melvin? You need to be more careful with your wishes. You’ve just done serious damage to a good friend.
Actually, I think the the girls are laughing at his hang dog expression, probably thinking he hit on her (as usual) and got rejected (as usual).
“Somewhere other than here!”
I can feel for BJ. I still remember way back to 10th grade (more years then I care to admit) when I tried to talk to a girl who I known since kinder garden, and flubbed the who thing up. I was mortified. It took me years to get over it.
At least now that he realizes that his approach is bad, he can start doing something about it.
BJ is a poser he is trying to emulte some older guy he has resect for.
Thats my best guess.
In the last post, Melvin does make a wish that BJ could see what he doing. But, Melvin doesn’t recognize or think that he making a wish on BJ. Oh, yes. Those are memories aren’t they? BJ is getting hit by three different people in the past, because the arm is different in each one of those two slaps and one sock. So Melvin and Saachi don’t see what going on BJ head, they just see him acting funny and then walking away from them. Those two girls are just watching him walk away like he a wiped pup retreating and laughing at him.
