Holly is Melvin's crush. After the genie incident, Holly is aware that Melvin likes her, but there is a little too much strangeness surrounding Melvin and his friends for Holly's liking.
Red was a boy until a new genie tried to get Melvin a girlfriend. That's when the genie turned Red into a girl so Melvin could practice talking to girls, and forgot to turn her back before disappearing. Red is hopeful that her situation is only temporary.
It seems that Holly had some previously unknown connection to the Witch Hunters, and Kahin spun some lies to convince her to go along with them by using that connection.
We also got a glimpse into why Holly doesn’t like Red, in that panel 3 flashback to the party that no one except Red seems to remember. It happened during the timeskip between BACH-Mann’s and Hollum’s runs of the comic, and Hollum has left it mysterious so far.
So, an announcement I never did. I freeze the idea of RE:chronicled, while working the script. It’s not that there aren’t ideas of how to work it out. The issue is that until certain plot points over here at the main story aren’t discussed, I wouldn’t be room to move on RE:Chronicled without spoiling the story. It will make sense soon, but here is the good news: The reveals I needed to happen in the main story for RE:Chronicled to make sense, are happening already, starting with Holly now. There will be news soon.
There are a couple of interesting visual things happening here.
In Panel 4, is Tiffany winking? And if so, at who? Or is that supposed to be a quizzical expression?
In Panel 3, is Holly just raising an accusing finger? Or is she making a “L” sign at Tiffany, to call her a “loser”?
And some observations… Holly clearly doesn’t seem to make any connection between “Ms. Clark”, and Melvin’s last name… curious, no?
And yet she seems to be aware of magic (note her comment about being “exposed” to Azoth…). Makes Holly seem not to be the sharpest knife in the drawer.
BTW, I’m pretty sure that, in Panel 9, the “they” that Holly mentions, refers to witches. Her uncle has apparently made it clear that they are The Enemy.
It is reasonable for Holly to jump to the conclusion that ”Ms. Clark” is a relative of Melvin, given the resemblance, but she has as yet been given no information that would lead her to the notion that this is Melvin himself.
From records, yes, but Holly is close enough to people who associated with Clarence for it to be reasonable for her to have heard about Clarence becoming Tiffany.
Panel 3: oh, you can’t fool ME!
ARG, damnit. I noticed that when Hollum first sent me the file, but then forgot about it and missed it on every subsequent pass. Grrrr.
Thanks for the chapter, looking forward to seeing how this all works out, because I am confused at the moment.

What do we know about nymphs in the Melvin verse? Red seems to have become one (likely by a combination of bloodline and being magically infused).
We do know from Re-Chronicled Tiffany has the potential to become a villain.
If Tiffany is a nymph, the Melvin-verse defiantly has a different definition.
I don’t know; nymphs were minor nature-deities, usually depicted as maidens. But they weren’t usually considered evil.
“Nymph” is also a (young) growth stage in insects (those which don’t undergo a *complete* metamorphosis when turning into adults).
Yes! – and how do we access those chronicles? I signed up for the higher tier, but I can’t find a link…
Can anyone get me up to speed here?

Thank you Carlos – I the AltArc.

Yes, that makes sense – after all, she hasn’t figured who Red used to be…
How could she figure that out? On Mary’s behalf, the witch covenant globally reconned any knowledge of “Clarence Thornton” from mortal sources.
