…Oh sh*t. The old lady has magic too. She’s going to use it to get Liam out of this situation. Then Liam’s going to want to learn it to get revenge. That will set up for a Melvin vs. Liam magic rivalry. (This is me guessing but it seems very likely)
Look at that old lady, she seems way too oblivious even for someone with affluenza (look it up). She probably is hiding her powers.
It would be nice if she was hiding her true appearance as well and she was actually hot (what can I say, I crave fanservice). Perhaps she’s hiding from witch hunters.
She’s just a regular old lady and her only power is being rich. Which isn’t a bad power mind you.
Was that established as canon already? Damn! I thought I spotted a twist coming.
She’s a Dark Lord of the Sith like Palpatine! lol
When I look at the “M”s in the third panel all I can see now are green pairs of shorts. Cannot unsee.
Good to know they did call the cops.
So it looks like the assault and battery charges will be pressed. Given how Liam is acting here, I am willing to bet that he will take the “Dark Side” route and try to become an idiot supervillain. This could reach epic proportions if he gets his hands on actual magical power . . .
Even before using magic, Liam parents are probably super rich, so he may go down town to jail, but his records will probably get scrubbed, because they are rich and have the power to do that. But, it will probably get played out over the next several episodes of the next week or so.
But, Liam would make a great nemeses to Melvin and crew. Whether or not he get Jeanie powers or some lessor power to work with, is still to be determined.
You don’t always need magic to be a supervillain. You look at Batman or Iron Man, they were super rich but didn’t have special powers, just a lot of fancy tech and training. Granted they were heroes, but you can use those same resources to be a villain.
yeah the difference is that batman and iron man are competant, all Liam has going for him at the moment is money, this will be enough to get him out of Jail, but I don’t think it will be enough to make him truly threatening unless he were to get his hands on something like a genie.
The police emblem shows us that the events of the story occur AFTER California broke off the U.S. and floated into the Pacific. (LOL)
Hahahahahahahahaha. As a born and raised Californian, I approve.
That might cause a few Californians to miss Nevada, but the Indian reservations should ease that pain somewhat. & a whole new set of coasts for surfing! Dude!!
What I want to know is what are state police doing at a local infraction?
Hmm, if The House of the Rising Fun is in a zone that has no local police of its own (e.g. a town that can’t afford a police department or is not incorporated as an autonomous municipality), then the County Sheriff or State Police would be in charge . . . or it could be that Liam’s family’s network of “good ol’ boys” has bought off the local police sufficiently that the Van Man knows that he has to go over their heads and invoke the State Police directly.
I don’t get the Cop#2 reference(s).
Is he describing the head injuries?
The police officer is talking in kind of a code as to what happen in the last strip last week. He is basically saying what happened, but without say what happened in the last weeks strip. He is basically referring to Liam attack on another person that in the other room.
Paint damage? So that wasn’t blood after all?
Combined with the ‘bald spot,’ paint damage could indicate torn scalp, or a contusion. It could also mean the victim was costumed, and his makeup got messed up. 😛
In the last strip we saw the shadow Liam holding on to some kids hair– could be the bald spot
As for the paint– It does appear there is some kinda paint on Smoking Guy and Van Man, in panel 1.
Whether it’s blood or paint, we are still looking at assault and battery. Also, the way he’s behaving with The Sarge will likely get him evaluated.
I like this sergeant.
Hahahaha, so smoking guy ties Liam up with some kid’s shoelace with out the kid realising, then tapes and bags Liam and pressure holds him in a corner.
I’m amused.
Evidently he an undercover Sergeant, because one of the Policemen referred to him as a Sergeant too.
I believe “sergeant” is to correct Van Man who referred to him as “officer”.
So is Liam’s Mom really that naive?
