Hey kids, if Saachi was a action figure, I think she would come with a pull string in her back!
So, pull yourself up to the keyboard and Vote!
Sincerely,
BACH-MANN & Shhadow
I wish to express my admiration for the dialog in this strip. It is brilliantly girly, yet communicates the essentials in a compact manner.
Except, of course, for one crucial point: why is Holly now in the hospital?
A good story teller doesn’t tell everything at once, but, spread it out over several strips to keep the audience attention to the Melvin Chronicle.
My guess is, she still asleep and they can’t wake her up. Because, Melvin put a sleep enchantment on her in his bedroom and he going to have to remove that enchantment for her to wake up.
Some people have suggested Melvin Kissing her to break that enchantment like in Snow White and I have even suggested something like that happening too.
(That missing point is, of course, entirely in line with the mode of discourse. That’s part of the brilliance of the script.)
It could be that this is only Part 1 of the dialogue, with Part 2 (Part 3, Part 4, etc) in later updates ๐
This, my dear melvinauts, is pure Shhadow. She is the soul of the characters.
By “I opened the door,” do you mean the door at Holly’s home, or the door at Saachi’s home? ‘Cause “There she was” could refer to either.
Stay tuned in until next week and find out. Same time, same station. Like one of those cliff hangers on those TV Series. We are obviously only getting our information in installment from one strip to the next.
I’m betting that it was Saachi’s house. Melvin envisioned the wrong set of front steps.
I am assuming she’s in the hospital because she won’t wake up. Melvin put a sleep spell on her and he hasn’t thought to remove it yet.
“Sleep spell”.
That seems all too reasonable.
I totally vote for Saachi becoming a cast character, with her picture above the calendar and everything.
Hmmmmmm……..;)
If Liam is important enough to warrant one, then Saachi probably would too.
“Hey kids, if Saachi was a action figure, I think she would come with a pull string in her back!”
I laughed at your comment. I could envision that. Time to start up a Kick-stater??
Great comic. Saachi laid it out for all of us but, it opened up so many other questions…
Keep Voting All !!
Loved the body language and use of her hands to tell the story. And yes, it seems that Melvin popped Holly to the wrong house and unable to awaken. I just wonder how far away Saachi’s house is from Holly’s and how they explain how she got there in a short time and barefoot. Better call the X-Files.
The truth is out there.
Hm, ran across an interesting model of female behavior the other day: it suggested that girls of middle to high attractiveness, but not quite at the top end, will be especially harsh to boys close to their own rank.
The idea is that girls at either extreme don’t need to do this, because they are all too aware of their rank. Girls don’t need to bother putting down low ranking males, it’s a waste of energy. They pursue higher ranking males.
But males right in their league are being tested, brutally so. He must demonstrate that he is of sterner stuff made, by not freaking out or slinking away, and is therefor of higher rank than the girl.
By this measure, Saachi considers BJ not to be scum, but to actually have a chance with her. He’s close enough in rank to be worth the trouble.
He’s failed this test, miserably, possibly because of Melvin’s interference, so it’s going to be difficult for him for him to get another opportunity, but if he does, he’s got to be dead on cool.
I keep matching him with Tiffany, who is of very high rank. Thing is, Red doesn’t know about this rule, and may not have the neural wiring to back it up anyway. Plus, she’s already friends with BJ, who thereby has almost no fear of her. He’s just his usual goofy self.
If this rule is wired into Red, BJ may just sail on by.
[Note: This rule is not the only rule, even if it is correct. It is but one connection in a fairly complex circuit.]
Red has the disadvantage of having been male most of her life and hasn’t built up proper defenses against girl vs. girl psychological warfare. This is why “girls suck” and she is still having difficulty adjusting.
What โrankโ is Red supposed to be? I find a lot of these social rules to be completely arbitrary anyways. But I am curious to see what your answer is.
