Yay! It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Red and Ida.
Yes, it has been way to long.
“Ida, Red, Ida, Red, I’m plumb crazy ’bout Ida Red…”
Ida seems to understand that in these high-pressure occupations, you have to make your own time for yourself rather than waiting for the management to offer it to you, cause the boss ain’t gonna. Which is going to matter more in retrospect years later–that you worked some extra hours, or that you were there for your closest friends when they needed you?
Methinks Ida may be a member of a coven. 🙂
She fits the stereotype in terms of character design. More than that, though…
Before and also on a page like this, she’s seems like the most bizarrely flexible (to the point of unprofessional) individual working in the modeling industry I’ve ever seen. Given your hypothesis… the idea that she lives with a second set of priorities, values, and agenda beyond just being a successful model really starts to click into place.

And Ida has purple eyes. Sure sign of her eldritch nature.
Funny thing is that her eyes have been a form if violet. I usually do the strip all by hand with the exception of the text. I have not been able to replenish my markers, so I tried using the computer this time. Hopefully people aren’t put off by the difference.
Not at all put off; I rather like the girls’ eyes. Ida’s haven’t changed all that much, I suspect–I just noticed them in context.
Stay tuned until next week to see if Melvin and BJ scream like little girls. Boy will Ida and Red be surprised when they walk in on where Melvin and BJ are right now. Or will Ida surprise everyone else, because, she a witch too, maybe?
