Kazom, that is NOT a good choice of words! [panel 4]
Shouldn’t that be “You’re”.
Yes, I am a pedant. 🙂
Yes, I pointed that out to Bach-mann. But even corrected, putting Melvin in charge seems like a poor idea.
Oh this ridiculous. Does everybody in this comic have a secret magical heritage? Next you’ll tell me Red had latent genie powers unlocked by her transformation.
As I said in an earlier thread, there are no coincidences where magic is concerned. I am not at all surprised to find that BJ and Mel are friends because they share the magical heritage. Their parents moved in the same circles.
Holly may also have magical associations–she accepted Mel’s magic pretty easily.
Red we don’t know about. But Jeanie’s meddling may have been less random than she knew. (I admit, though, I am less interested in Red’s magical associations than in her attempts to adapt to her new sex. We’re already past the first couple of weeks there, which in some ways may have been the most interesting, or at least amusing.)
We’ll see.
Maybe she’s a magical princess? After all princess is what her shirt ORIGINALLY said, before she altered it. She even jokingly refers to her mother as “The Queen”
What may come may be BJ.
Poor Red. Not included in the all-Boys-magic club.
Maybe that’s where she’ll turn up next. They’ve only just decided to start hanging there, and so far they haven’t made any effort to exclude her that I’ve seen.
It’s easy to tell when they do something Kazom likes.
If BJ mother is just a steward as Kazom is saying, then she may be just the holder of magic of both the Genie and witches world. She would know about both world, but, have no magic of her own of either world. Then the book store is basically a declared neutral zone by all Genie, witches and any other magic faction that might be out there.
It will also be a good place for Clamor to meet and spend time with BJ too. Also both Clamor and BJ can look at the secrete text too and try to work some unauthorized work in either the Genie or Witches world to achieve there love life desires too. Which would or could turn sour too and will if they actually try it. But, that not going to stop BJ from trying it any way.
Melvin does have the right idea in the last panel–the shop is neutral ground and therefore the safest place locally as well as giving access to magical resources, and they should prepare their defenses for whatever the Witches or other Magicals have in store next.
*^-^*
There are some problems with having a base located in neutral ground. They will make themselves visible/accessible to anyone wishing to eves drop or keep track of them. Sure they might not be attacked by anyone directly in that location, but they have to leave the place sometime. I sure hope Melvin learns how to open portals to places he has been to.
Maybe they will have there version of a Get Mart cone of silence or something like that. You remember when Maxwell has that super duper secrete talk with the Chief and everybody can hear what there say after cone been lowered, but, Maxwell and Chief can’t hear what each other are saying to each other. Hopefully there cone of silence will work better than there or maybe not.
Melvin teleporting Holly in and out of his bedroom does suggest that he should be able to use teleportation once he gets the hang of it . . . Witches in Bewitched (upon which the Witches in the IDOJB/Melvin world are based) used teleportation quite often.
I very much like that Mel is taking charge–even K acknowledges him. Good show, kid.
I’ll also point out that girls like leaders. Here’s hoping Holly gets involved.
I think putting Melvin in charge is going to bite Kazom in the butt later.
Mel’s the Heir. He’s going to have to learn how to lead sometime. Sure, he’ll make mistakes…but it’s sink or swim time.
“And what happened, then? Well, in Whoville they say – that the Melvin’s small testes grew three sizes that day.”
