Red was a boy until a new genie tried to get Melvin a girlfriend. That's when the genie turned Red into a girl so Melvin could practice talking to girls, and forgot to turn her back before disappearing. Red is hopeful that her situation is only temporary.
This is why I didn’t want people assuming that Red’s actions on the previous page were intentional snark. She had a much better burn in the works. 🙂
Called it. Tiff is a mistress of girl-rilla warfare. She can’t go back now. Also, if “Skavlin” are anything like Skaven, that was meaner than you might think (assuming you, who reads this later, have never played Warhammer Fantasy).
Also, when did Mrs. Thornton’s name change? Doesn’t the cast page have her listed as Mary? Is that intentional, or no?
EDIT: Yep, Mary on the cast page. Thank Wee Jas for the edit function . . .
I still don’t fell sorry for Deborah and her friends, because they were the ones that started picking on Red first. But, Red did a good number on Deborah. What Red did to Deborah, is definitely above Red capability to do by herself or something that she could come up on her own. Having Ida as her mentor, who is maybe 7 or 8 years older that Red, is really showing if effect on how Red handles herself and can out maneuver the other girl and do it with style too.
It nice to know that Red has at least one friend at the all school girl.
It can be a little of both a natural tendency of Red to do this, but, some of this had to be taught to Red from someone that was just a few years older than her, because, Red doing something that isn’t natural or normal for a girl her age to pull off. We have seen Ida pull this kind of stuff in the past and Red idealizes her and has really bonded with Ida her mentor teach her to be a model, but, I think Ida taught her more than just being a model and little bit on how to deal with people that choose to mess with you too. She has developed a real friendship relationship with it and is probably copying the way she does thing when somebody like Deborah messes with her.
Ida is kind of a big sister and friend to her. Now Red has two girl friends, which will help Red to adjust to her new live.
I suspect its more like any of the tumored, inbred, batshit crazy rat-people, the Skaven, from Warhammer Fantasy. I’m hoping she’s like Grey Seer Thanquol, honestly. His entry in the Army Book is . . . paranoid, to put it nicely.
I think, Deborah just what Queen of the Skavlin character would be. Not only is Red talking to her friend Patrica in panel 6 about her being Queen of the Rat world, but, Deborah friends are looking on the internet off there phone in panel 5 to fine own what the Queen of the Skavlin is too and they called Deborah over to look at it. That why we see big bold letter of Deborah yelling “QUEEN OF WHAT!?!” She just figuring out that she been had and in front of her friends and all the other girls that been watching this whole thing too.
Look at how Red covers her mouth when suggesting the Role of Skaklin Queen in panel 3, it’s like she’s surpressing a chuckle and is hiding it with her hand.
What would be even funnier, would be that now Deborah now know about it and know she doesn’t want to do that character. That her father or her emplamant agent signs her up to do the Queen of the Skavlin person without asking her and commits to an iron clad contract to do queen of the Rat people. When it rains, it pours people!
So, fun fact, Robert may be better informed that me in regards the word “Tartanition”, for me it was a fun word that I heard a couple of times, and then I found out that it’s an old way to avoid using the word “damnation”, there also seem to be a lot of other funny words to avoid swearing, and I just thought it would be appropriate for a “fair lady” like Deborah to use this words.
Your right she must have had a crash course on girl and psychological warfare on other girls. Thank You Ida! Because, last year, Deborah was doing a number on Red, but, this year it Red turn.

Geez. She’s both good when she tries AND when she doesn’t. She’s a natural at this. It’s scary.
Called it. Tiff is a mistress of girl-rilla warfare. She can’t go back now. Also, if “Skavlin” are anything like Skaven, that was meaner than you might think (assuming you, who reads this later, have never played Warhammer Fantasy).

Ah, that’s probably an edit fail on my part. I didn’t know the proper spelling. I’ll have to go back and fix it a few pages ago, too.
Uh, Robert/Carlos:
Panel 1: “Marie’s Thornton” -> “Marie Thronton’s”
Or if it’s Mary, then “Mary Thornton’s”
FYI: Comic #9 also has the mom’s name as “Marie”.
Lol I fixed that literally the same minute you mentioned it, as part of the fix for her name mentioned by He Who Abides.

I like to think that Ida has been teaching her as well. Of course I like to think that the other part is natural talent. ?

“Skavlin Queen?” Is she like Ferretina, the Weasel Queen, in Girl Genius?

“from War hammer Fantasy”
Ah, that’s something I’d know nothing about.
Well, given that this is War Mallet, I think that would be right . . .
Nice to see these things all work out.
Look at how Red covers her mouth when suggesting the Role of Skaklin Queen in panel 3, it’s like she’s surpressing a chuckle and is hiding it with her hand.

Could always be like the queen of blades where the rest of the race is ugly but she looks sexy for some reason.
Gotta say, I’m really liking the new art style of the characters. There’s just something about it that’s both cute and rather expressive.
Yeah, me too! Carlos’s style is great.
Tell Carlos I love the new Art style as well
Wait a minute…”tarnation?”
Of course. It’s a country whose main export is tar. A tar nation.
You need to watch some Yosemite Sam clips on youtube. 🙂

Besides, tarnation, there are several more such terms and sentence there used in like:
What in SAM HILL going on here?
It a chick flick! Generally it is a movies that girl see, but, movie that most guys won’t watch.
You move like your in GRANNY GEAR! Your moving very slow like an old person or it could be referring vehicle that in first gear.
There are other too. I am sure that ask those of us that read Melvin Chronicle give other such saying.
Looks like Red was given a crash course on girl on girl psychological warfare.
