Man o man she is so cute . This is how it always went for me also. No girlfriend no girlfriend then after you start seeing someone poof they all come out of the woodwork.
See “preselection”. Get that ball rolling fast enough and they’re basically competing for you.
See? That wasn’t so long now, was it? Just a mere speedbump in the Internet Comic superhighway…
Given the amount of detail, I can see why it took a while.
Welcome back!
I like the comic so far but I think you should advance the story faster. This one small conversation has been going on since the 3rd of November.
So, did Melvin transport Holly to Saatchi’s front door because that is where he *thought* she lived? Holly and Saatchi seem to always be together in the flashbacks.
Holly and Saatchi are always together in Saatchi’s flashbacks.
She’s never aware of Melvin otherwise because he’s stalking Holly.
(And I use the word “stalking” advisedly”. Melvin, just go up to the girl in your sights and PLAY. What you’re doing never looks good.)
===
Garden Path Sentence: “I am a clue…” Really, Saatchi? You are the embodiment of Clue?
“I am a ‘Clue’ and ‘I Spy’ champion”… seems alright to me.
Oh, sure, it’s fine with the quotes–but try reading it as printed.
On the first couple of run throughs, my eyes actually inserted the word “a” after “spy” trying to make sense off the thing:
“I am a clue, and I spy a champion.”
I didn’t tumble to the correct reading until Yujo’s post. The game names would never have occurred to me.
I had no trouble recognizing that it referred to the game just from the basic reading above. The only suggestion I would have made, and it’s minor, is “and an I Spy”.
Isn’t that the way it goes down. The person that your actually stalking doesn’t see you doing it, but, everybody else see you stalking her. Which could to misinterpretation by Saatchi as to who Melvin is actually interested in. Which could be hard on Saatchi, because, she might actually think that Melvin is interested in her instead of Holly.
I personally get a kick out of Melvin walking Kazom on a leech no less. (in Panel 8 or panel 2 sub panel 4).
I personally wonder how Melvin convinced Kazom to let him do that.
Regular cats usually get that “I’m going to kill you” look on their faces when you do something like that. But then, they get that when they don’t like the food offering or the weather outside is bad.
I’m sure that some kind of deal was struck, and only for that stretch of street.
Where’s the leech? Leeches are almost always much smaller than cats, unless they were part of the cast in the two Attack of the Giant Leeches movies (1959 and 2008).
Aaaad cue “You totally have the hits for me!”
Hots. I meant HOTS! Why is the no edit button? Arrrrgh!
Heh, this was worth the wait. Guess Melvin is a low-key stalker, and the Clue and I Spy master thought it was for her and not Holly; it does look like he is looking at her as opposed to Holly, so ya can’t blame her. It would probably confuse Saachi even more if Melvin told her the whole truth about his stalking as well as the fact that Holly is in the hospital because of him.
Usually, Holly looking in the other direction when Melvin is looking at her in secrete, but, Saachi that looking in his direction. So most of the time, it going to be Melvin and Saachi that make eye contact and when they do, Melvin going to look away kind of embarrassed like he didn’t want to be seen by Saachi. Holly my know that Melvin around, but, doesn’t seem to show much interest in him and generally seem to act kind of cold to him.
This is kind of the way it going between these three people.
Melvin, here are your options:
1) Let the cute girl ask you out.
2) Tell her that you were spying on her friend, that she’s always with.
3) Run away.
4) Tell her that you have other plans for the night (bad idea).
5) Wish her away.
6) Agree to go with her, but cancel last minute (makes you look bad, solid plan though).
7) Take your glasses off and say the following as you try to look into her eyes, “I’m sorry, but I’m afraid that I must refuse. You see, I have not been honest with you, Saachi, I am actually a member of a secret organisation known as the League of Incredulous Prevaricators. We’re hired by the government to observe everybody, not just you. I apologise if you felt in any way that I was attracted or otherwise to you. I have had specialised training to ensure I have not been detected but I am currently legally obliged to tell you that I am actually twenty-seven years old and therefore have no interest in you whatsoever.
This raises an interesting question. Has Melvin used his 3 wishes yet? Jeanie was pressured into giving Neil his 3 wishes by LSH. But Kazom is an older more experienced Genie.
None of these options are going to save Melvin. Saatchi is Holly’s bestie, so both of them will be mad at him pretty soon. He can’t use a Jeanie wish because that would mean warping the will of Saatchi, or Holly, or both girls. He might get some cred if he saves them from a dragon or something, but neither one will ever let him forget what he did or failed to do in this matter.
So, option 8: Join the Foreign Legion
I’m trying to remember, does Holly know that Melvin is crushing on her, or that he is even interested?
In any case, Saatchi hasn’t actually asked him out yet. But if she does, the correct answer is “Sure, why not?”
Melvin needs to get over his one-itis and resulting stalker tendencies. Two girls competing for him is not a bad thing, and he should roll with it.
Option 9: Ask Saatchi out, but make it a double date with Holly and BJ. But, I don’t think that Melvin will come up with that idea and I don’t know how good that idea will go over.
There is an essential flaw in Option 9: No girl will date BJ, not even Holly. I mean, he’s BJ. As of now the only way BJ will ever get a date is if Jeanie turns him into a girl again.
This is so unrealistic, I mean I can totally buy a magical talking cat, but a girl inviting a boy out, and that a boy that is only slightly less nerdy then me (and a hell of a lot more popular), that is just ridicules.
Saatchi hasn’t asked him out yet. But she strikes me as the kind of modern, liberated girl who wouldn’t think twice about asking a guy out.
Waiting is.
that is just code for left-wing social-justice-warrior fascist.
It would be if she were in college. But this is middle school, so she just doesn’t know any better. Her social justice training is from things like Frozen. And she’s probably heard guys say that they like it when the girl asks. (Which is true: terrible convenient for the guy, and probably a necessary kick-start for the socially inept like Melvin. But I think female interest will be higher in a guy who takes the initial risk, and it may well be that since Melvin had the stones to approach her in idle conversation, that’s enough to tip the balance for Saatchi.)
Okay there may not be sinister machinations behind every dubious act. but “liberated girl” implies a lot, first and foremost that traditional girls are not free, and that it is better that a girl takes the initiative despite that being against their nature.
Oh. For what it’s worth, the flag on the mailbox is wrong.
I’m a postal clerk, I notice these things—you wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve seen that drawn wrong.
You’re a postal clerk? Does that mean like most postal employees, you’re an alien? (re MIB2))
Nah, that’s just an urban legend promoted by management.
Think there will be an update today? or another Long wait?
Well, anything’s possible…
where is the next page of this show?
