Shadow men? Shadow babies? That’s new on me too! I guess I am not watching the internet closely enough either! But, at least I am not wasting my time reading those web comics like she is!
Now we have to wonder what Saachi is watching on the internet.
I’m sure there are some comics with shadow babies as well. Like … Namesake has some shadows … nether beings from Drowtales would fit the possession/stuffing except they glow – but Khaless doesn’t …
Now waiting for Robot and Shadow of Gunnerkrig Court to have Shadow Babies….

Unrelated: I also suspect The Shadow is Mel’s Dad. No particular reason, just my guess.
Interesting hypothesis. Kazom and Melvin, however, seem to be operating under the assumption that Melvin’s father will never return, so Kazom apparently believes that the man is dead or trapped or otherwise gone for good.
Saachi is definitely having wild fantasy and where she getting these ideas, no one knows. As to whether it Melvin father, who knows. But, if it is Melvin father, it will have to be Melvin father from beyond and no way to go from here to there kind of thing.
