Red was a boy until a new genie tried to get Melvin a girlfriend. That's when the genie turned Red into a girl so Melvin could practice talking to girls, and forgot to turn her back before disappearing. Red is hopeful that her situation is only temporary.
That looks more like Liam hired someone who looks like Red’s Warmallet cutout to act the part for his party. But since it’s just an actress, they won’t be able to keep up with the gaming lingo and it will fall apart. Thus Liam will decide he needs to have the real Red on his side and shenanigans will occur.
I’m afraid that a significant portion of this page has me rather confused.
What does the green narration box in panel 1 mean? “What Red saw” doesn’t seem to make any sense.
In panel 4, who is talking to whom, and about what? It’s probably just the text slang going completely over my head.
Panel 6 also has me flummoxed. What is that butler-looking guy saying?
And of course, Panel 6 was even more confusing, until I read a comment saying that her hair isn’t the same color as Red’s, so it’s obviously someone else.
Thankfully, the Age of Ultron quote in panel 3 made it all better. 🙂 God that movie rocked.
Go back to the last comic entry and you will see that Red doesn’t know what a boob job is and so she did a search and got her answer in this installment of this comic in the first two windows. The last three or four window in this section is the completion of Liam preplanned victory party. The fact that the girl in the last picture look a lot like Red, may mean that Liam is trying to outdo Marvin his arch rival too.
After having re-read the last 2 strips 4-5 times, this is what I’ve figured out:
In the previous strip, Liam had stopped off at ‘Snack to the Future’ to give Holly a flyer for his pre-victory party. ‘Snack to the Future’ can apparently be seen from the city’s rail system.
Meanwhile, on the city’s rail system, Red and one of her classmates are talking about some other girl who’s jealous of Red. Also, Red just found out that everyone thinks that she had a boob job.
While googling ‘boob job’, Red sees Liam trying to mack on Holly, goes WTF, and immediately texts Melvin (it’s a little hard to tell because Red’s avatar looks more like what he did when Red was a boy) and lets him know what’s up (you’re supposed to let your bro know when someone’s trying to talk to your girl, right?).
AS for panel 6, you’ve seen STAR TREK, right? You’ve got to know what the Sopck-a-like was saying…
Red’s text avatar does look more like she did as Clarence. She didn’t ask to be changed…is a boy trapped in a girl’s body. She probably would keep her male avatar being they are always created in one’s image of him/her self. 😉
50s– I wondered the same thing about the boob job..so I did a bit of a poll of 13-15 year olds. What I realised is the boys, though familiar with the concept of breast augmentation, did not know what the expression “boob job” meant. I also got the impression that some may have thought it was a sexual act. The girls, some even younger; however, knew exactly what it meant and what it was.
Huh. Thanks for the actual data. I wonder if “boob job” is taken as a sexual act by analogy with a certain oral activity–which I understand is being taken by surprisingly young children, even preteens, as an acceptable practice along the lines of french kissing. I’ve seen newspaper articles reporting that some kids don’t even regard it as being actual sex–although I don’t much trust newspapers on these matters.
I’ve been following strip and am keeping up on what’s going on, without too much effort. Some strips are continuing stories, some aren’t. This one is. Everything taking place in the one above directly relates back to the one posted Thursday/Friday, and to the ongoing story, as well as setting up what’s to come.
I’ve noticed that other details have also been included in the art, lead bars, as well as settings. There are 4-5 panels to work with, 2 times/week. I’ve found that to be a rather clever way to move story along.
Heavy- I don’t know what he knows or doesn’t, but I do know the invitation said cosplay. This woman in the final panel looks older to me than Red.
Though Liam, his butler, and at least one staff member are cosplaying ‘Star Trek’ (probably so he could be the admiral lording over everyone) the previctory party is for the ‘War Mallet’ tournament which was said, previously, to take place on Saturday.
I don’t think the woman in the last panel is Red either, wrong hair color, eyes seem to suggest a different personality (could just be in my head). I’m just thinking how Liam will react on tournament day when he encounters the group and sees Red with them. (He’ll probably try to hit on her, he seems the type)
Heavy–I agree…much more of a sexual confidence conveyed in her pose and expression. It could take Red years to possess that. She may be wearing Red’s costume though. 😉
By Liam’s “urp” in the second to last panel, I doubt he has the valve control to approach someone like Red, in that capacity.
Yeah, it’s probably a professional cosplayer hired for the party (though why they’d go, I don’t know. For a stack of cash, I suppose). As for Liam, I think you’re right, he probably will get tongue tied when he first sees Red.
I also don’t think that Liam is actually aware that the girl who models for the Warmallet art is the same one who hangs around with “those losers” Melvin and BJ. Liam’s arrogance is the type that would refuse to believe that somebody so “awesome and hawt” as the Warmallet model would be willingly hanging around with such losers.
I wonder If Red actually modeled for the Scarlet Avenger or if the company just photoshopped her headshot (something all actors and models have) on to a body. She didn’t seem to know about the character in the JB series.
I was under the impression that Red actually modal clothing in it entire. Like she actually walks down the run way showing off the new cloths and they take picture of them and they put them in magazines to show off the new fashions. So you would be able to go to a ladies or high School fashion magazine and Red modelling those girls cloth for them. What I don’t know is if there going to be taking her on a live tour showing those cloth off where she also needs to have live escort too to usher her into the live gathering too.
That would be an interesting twist too, but, that would be in the future, because Red only been a girl for a week or so and haven’t had enough time to do all those things yet.
I also just noticed on re-read that Red’s conversation on the train about why another girl at school hates her is very likely related to her comment a few strips ago that “Girls suck!”
Oh, dear.
Please tell me the last panel is some kind of virtual world, and Red do something this stupid…
(Then again, we are talking about the kid who had to Google “boob job.”)
Ohhh Warmallet-chickfight ahoi and since Red was a boy once upon a time she want pull hir punches.
That right, Red might not know what a boob job is. But, that last panel, we don’t know if it a Liam wet dream or if Red is really doing it.
Somehow I doubt that’s really red in the last panel.. her figure looks a little too filled out…
The girl in the last panel also has a darker shade of red hair, Tiffany’s hair is more orangeish atleast on my screen.
They are different colors on my screen too.
Hairstyle’s different, too.

Funny thing is that line was written before either of us saw the movie. 🙂

Looked it up, he said “Live long and Prosper” in Vulcan
A nice tribute to Leonard Nimoy, who played Mr. Spock in the original Star Trek series, and recently passed away.
Shoot, I completely missed his hand signal. I’ll go turn in my Nerd Card.
This is pretty much what I’d figured as well, but it did take me awhile to figure it out.

Red still hasn’t seen what a “boob job” is. Gonna be fun seeing her reaction.
I am ever so slightly skeptical that a boy in the modern age doesn’t know; the concept is pervasive in popular culture.

Different people have different life experiences. Nuff said.
It’s official. I have no clue what is happening. The story jumps around too much.

Agreement on the jump-around. I can’t follow even one day strip, I keep feeling someone cut out some panels.
Does Liam even know Red’s a girl now?

I think it could easily be red gong to the party to Watch what Dbag is going to do with molly
I mean holly

Hope you had a great “May the fourth be with you”, and are enjoying an envy filled “REVENGE OF THE 5TH!” MUHAHAHAHA!
It just occurs to me that the “Scarlet Avenger” is a girl who lost out to Red for the modeling job. Possibly because she’s just a hair too old.
I also just noticed on re-read that Red’s conversation on the train about why another girl at school hates her is very likely related to her comment a few strips ago that “Girls suck!”
That’s not red in the last panel, her hair is a different shade…either that or the colorist is having shananagans
