Kazom is a 3,000 year old genie. In order to conserve power and thereby extend his life, Kazom does as little magic as possible. He is bound in the form of the Clark family's cat and mostly just lays around Melvin's Room.
That’s a heck of a shell bomb of backstory for the webcomic. Genies fought and conquer over both land and “lesser beings” with each other in ancient times, witch clans emerge with a power source from the genies and from a more commonly known myth reference, how the whole of genie-kind had been imprisoned and cursed into their current social structure with the totems.
Solomon might’ve been the one to make the wish-granting rules upon genie-kind as retribution for their hubris over the ancient mortals. Or maybe Haji might’ve agreed that Solomon’s punishment upon the genies was justifiable; to teach their own kind the humility they need to have with their magic, thus tied the seal’s curse with their laws. Don’t know for sure, just a theory.
Is there a reference anywhere about this, “quat euzma”? Looks like some sort of lantern, holding a green light source? I would like to learn more about this in the webcomic in the future.
Quat Euzma – A long lost artifact that is believed to be the source of genie powers. The power of the Quat Euzma is said to be unpredictable.
This is a little plot thread that’s in the works right now. I just have the chance to introduce it first! 🙂 The Information page has been recently updated as well, so I will advice readers of both comics to give it a read!
Ifrits is the Kind of Genie that Lahab is and she a princess too. If I am not mistaken, the witches used Janns spell on both Tiffany and Deborah. So yes, Kazom may have a point to what he is saying to Lahab that if the witches were to get there power, they would unstoppable and could do almost anything that there harts desired and probably would too.
Lahab is a Jann genie… who just so happen to be (or use to be) the princess of the Ifrits as well, she just takes more on one side of her family. And so far, besides my little Halloween goof, Tiffany and Deborah are still untouched by the witches, at least for now. Well, at least Deborah, Red did have her experiences with Melvin after all. Though what you said about witches becoming an unstoppable force thanks to the power of the Genies is mostly right. It never got to happen (as we see in present day) but that was a source of concern for Kazom back in the day.
On a different note, I noticed that Mary’s (Red’s mom’s) Maiden name Walsh, is Irish, but with Welsh roots. (I looked it up.) I cannot help but wonder if that’s important.
It was mostly a call back to the fact that Red is in fact part Irish from her mother’s side. Still, I did name drop it for a reason, though the lineage had nothing to do with it.
It doesn’t only happen in modeling of women keeping her maiden name, because, that is there stage name that everybody knows them as. So they either don’t change there name when they get married or they keep using there maiden name after there married anyway. I have even heard of both male and female actors that used a stage name and the only name that everybody else knows that person as.
There this one Guy who a famous Actor and he was known by another name other than his given name at birth. He got tired to arguing with people over what his real name is, that he had his name changed to the stage name that he was using all the time in the credit at the end of those movies.
So yes, Robert right, a women doesn’t have to change her name, but, usually they and is unusual when they don’t and looks odd some times.
Yes, that’s exactly what I said. Her name IS Mary Thornton, just how I found her originally. I didn’t change that, and it’s still her name, even as a professional.
Robert, I think you have a typo in panel two. “Haji is the only one I tHrust with this task.” I think you mean “trust”.
so that’s Lahab’s full name, and also explains how King Solomon fits into this story.
Well Solomon did have the wisdom of God.
So I’m not really surprised he managed to do that to the entire genie race.

When did that happen?

As its name implies, the Quat Ezuma has four parts: the Rectus Femoris, the Vastus Lateralis, the Vastus Medialis, and the Vastus Intermedius.
Where did you learnt all that from? Can I just Google or Bing for it online for more references?
I think it comes up in the “Thousand Nights and a Night,” but I may be thinking of a novel based on that material, too.
More information please.
I feel like an idiot. They are making a reference to thigh muscles.
If it makes you feel better, I had to use Google to look up the names of the quadriceps.
This is still a dream sequence, isn’t it?

Thanks for answering.
I also found it interesting to learn on said page https://melvin.jeaniebottle.com/?comic=51-a-trip-down-memory-lane#comment-38089 that Mr Thorton isn’t Red’s biological father. At least I am guessing that was the implication of Mary still having her maiden name when Red was that big was.
Nah, Mary kept her maiden name for professional reasons. Happens all the time in the modeling/acting world.

Then why did Carlos say Mary Thorton was the name Debra an her flunkies know and fear/admire her through? I am confused
