Red was a boy until a new genie tried to get Melvin a girlfriend. That's when the genie turned Red into a girl so Melvin could practice talking to girls, and forgot to turn her back before disappearing. Red is hopeful that her situation is only temporary.
I think in the previous strip somebody linked his first appearance in IDoJB. Where the Blue Djinn approaches him for consul, and he ends up grabbing her breasts.
Kahim also seems to be firmly in favor of the possible future paths in which a Super-Witch is created from the union of Melvin and Tiffany. That makes me wonder how he expects his faction to benefit from pulling the kid’s strings.
Since being reminded that this is the guy who allegedly can see the future, I’m now wondering what the limits are on his abilities*. Does he know at this point that his boss winds up an infant? If so, I would expect that he’s planning around that, or a way to make it work for him…
*Can he change a future he sees? Can others, and if so, who? Does he have blind spots? Can he lie about what he’s seen?
Kahin can see all possible futures. The future is not set in stone until it happens—free will and all—but he can also see how probable each potential future is at the moment.
Not really. And Kahin actually agrees there. This page, fanservice aside, has some hindsight of Genie’s perception of gender. Or at least, for Kahin there is a clear difference between the Body Melvin crafted for himself, and the one Jean and Melvin crafted for Red.
I’m a bit confused, tell me if I’ve got this straight: When Kahin says “as to be expected from my queen’s kin” he’s referring to the job Jeanie did transforming Red? Because Jeanie and Blue can only be considered kin in the loosest sense unless there’s djinn in Jean’s ancestry.
If Tiff is part fay, is it on her mother’s side? Father’s side? Both? Her father being a full blooded member of the fair folk might explain why he didn’t stick around.
Kin in the sense that somehow Jeanie counts as Blue’s grand daughter. Sorry guys, what I meant is just is that Jeanie created Red’s body, and from the Djinn point of view, Jeanie was related to Blue’s directly.
Her mother is from a long line of witches; a racial line that includes fae blood. That’s why she was thrilled that her son was turned into a daughter. And why Red is sooooo hot.
Red’s gonna kill him.
… Yes, but also who?
Holly’s gonna kill him.
Saachi’s gonna kill him.
B.J.’s gonna be very upset.
Kahin is more than a bit obsessed. Who would have guessed: a “dirty old genie”!

Even a misogynist like Blue was annoyed with Kahim’s perviness.

A minor note, but considering how Kahim compliments Melvin’s witchcraft, how skilled our boy actually is?
I’m asking because even after 189 strips we don’t have any point of reference to measure his talent. Specially among his peers.
We will get a proper “power scale” in time, but in the meantime, we always knew the kid was a little special
Melvin is impressive for how recently he began training at all, but he will still need several more years to reach his full potential.
Using Kazom to cover Red’s nipples? Nice touch.
The layers in Photoshop are “Prude Kitty”, hahaha.
Kitty-covered pokies.
Good thing Melvin’s wearing glasses. He could’ve lost an eye.
And right about now, the time distortion wears off.
Ugh! Women being objectified, no thanks! Let me know when the perv-fest is over.
“Have you ever watched the show?” Guy Fleegman, Galaxy Quest.
Kahin is a villain. He’s supposed to be offensive.
In panel 5, Melvin let slip the truth, calling Red her instead of him.
Can gender only be defined solely by one’s physical parts these days?

How much of the result was Blue/Jeanie’s magic, and Red’s own latent one?
I don’t think her father left (did I miss something?).
We don’t know Red’s biological father.

You know whenever he can extricate himself from Red he will have the world’s worst case of smudged glasses.
