Holly is Melvin's crush. After the genie incident, Holly is aware that Melvin likes her, but there is a little too much strangeness surrounding Melvin and his friends for Holly's liking.
Well, people do move… and kids sometimes change schools… and Holly never seemed to have much of any interest in Clarence anyway…
Since it’s the first day of school, I’d think that maybe she just hasn’t gotten around to noticing his absence yet. Except that he was also missing for the last couple of months of the previous school year, so – maybe she just never really noticed him to begin with. It could be a big school.
As far as everyone passing out. There could be more than one or two factors causing everyone to pass out and not just one cause.
1. Spiking the punch could be one of those things.
2. Somebody could be using the morning after drug. Some one using it, you won’t remember the next day or some other kind of drug like that.
3. Melvin magic could have gone wild or something like that.
4. Some other Genie or Witch could be messing with Melvin and everybody else got cough in the cross fire.
5. We could have a Mandala affect here. Where reality appears to have been rewritten or some thing like that.
As far as Clearance being missing. Most of the people wouldn’t thing that much of one person being missing unless there there some one close to you like a friend or something like that. Holly may kind of remember Clearance, because, he seemed to be friend with Melvin, but, after five or six months since she seen Clearance, she probably pretty much has forgotten Clearance, beside she to nervous to ask Melvin anyway. Assuming that Holly doesn’t either talk to JJ or get to close to Melvin right away, there no reason for her to find out immediately or in the near term future either and I doubt that Saachi going to ask either.
“Didn’t ask for a third wheel”? That somehow sounds wrong, but I’m not sure why. Also, I think Holly and Melvin are both too shy to make their potential relationship work, or start, without a solid kick in both of their geeky asses. I can definitely relate.
I believe she’s referring to Melvin interfering with her seduction of Tiffany. Melvin being the “third wheel” in the relationship Saachi was trying to build.
Carlos mentioned in yesterday’s page that Melvin is nearing age 16, BJ turned 16 over the summer, and I believe Tiffany/Red is 16 as well. JJ is 13, soon to be 14.
The average 16 year old will be in the 10th grade, which is technically the second year of high school. Depending on when there birth day is, it could swing few month either way.
The average 13 year old will be in the 7th grade, but, depending on there birth day, it could also swing a few month in either way. But, since JJ is already 13 year old, that BJ somewhere between 2 and a half years to maybe 3 years older than JJ. If JJ were 12 going to turn 13 in a month or two, then BJ would be older than JJ by more that three years.
@Riniko JJ is a 13 years old freshman, but as Robert just point out, with Melvin and co either at their 16 or close, they already have a couple of years at this high school, even Red has close of a year attending to the girls Academy.
Think it would be possible to replace the avatars in the character info window with Carlos art versions instead of the old Bach-mann ones? Trying to jog my who’s who memory using the character window is a little…discombobulating.
@Kattgirl – This was actually a thought from a few pages ago, that I didn’t act on until now due generally being busy. And it’s Bach-mann’s side profile pic of Holly that throws my brain off kilter, really.
The art for the portraits and the cast page will be updated at some point, but we are waiting to re introduce most of the cast on their new designs first, alongside a couple more of new characters like JJ and Deborah, I don’t mean that we are going to wait to introduce every single character, but at least enough to make most of the update at once an let new and old readers have time to get use to the new designs.
About the only difference between Started and Starting, is that Started is pass tense and Starting is present tense. Since the party is in the passed, then Started would be the best way to spell it. But, if it happening now, you would say it starting. If it going to happen in the future, you would say it will start happening. I think you being a little bit too picky here as far a grammatical errors. I generally give people the benefit of the doubt. But, then I am a poor speller and will also use words that sound similar, but, have different meaning like. Here or Hear. A few other words to or too or two or 2. etc. It not that I don’t know difference, it that I get sloppy some time or I will miss writing one or two words down even. But, I see the way that both Carlos and Robert have it is acceptable and meaning is perfectly clear and your being a little too picky. Some of the major wrong words or misspelled word, OK say something about it.
There’s tense confusion in her dialogue, though. She uses future tense (Starting) in her first sentence, but past tense in her following sense. You don’t change tenses like that. Nobody would talk that way.
Ah, yeah I missed that. The start of the sentence can be grammatically correct with “starting”, but in the context of the whole sentence, it does need to be “started”. I’ll fix it.
We kind of expected that, because, Holly doesn’t know who Tiffany is. The only thing she know about Tiffany is, is that she some really hot model who all the other guys are going gag over, except Malvin of course, because, he see her as Clearance in a female body and not a girl in a girl body. Holly suffering from a Post traumatic tress disorder. She judging herself to Tiffany and all the bell and whistle that Tiffany is packing and she fells inept to her self worth and what Holly has to offer. She may even be almost embarrass to compare herself to Tiffany.
Holly probably had at least some infatuation with Melvin even before this moment or even the use a magic even, but, Tiffany being around Melvin only brought it out into the open as far a Holly thinking when it comes to Melvin.
More on thins later, but this party was already established as a future event in the previous run (more info on that in the link in the previous page), but due to the current timeskip it’s one of the few events we skip, but still, we are going to learn what went down on that party in due time.
Hm. This doesn’t sound like the effects of normal punch-spiking. No wonder Holly wants to quiz Melvin.
I wonder if Melvin had his wish-magic under control by the time the party rolled around…? If not, that could explain some things.
And it’s interesting that Holly evidently doesn’t yet know that Tiffany used to be “Clarence”. If she talks to JJ, she’s going to get a surprise.
I wonder what they think happened to Clarence.
Well, people do move… and kids sometimes change schools… and Holly never seemed to have much of any interest in Clarence anyway…

OK, I’m out of ideas.

I meant that it sounded like Saachi was being kinda unnecessarily mean here. I could have worded it better, now that I look at my earlier post.
I can’t remember, are they freshmen or second year students?

You’re having difficulty telling the blonde from the brunette? Seriously???

In panel 3, shouldn’t it be “People started” instead of “People starting”? That’s a little grammatical hiccup that’s kinda bothering me.

Stick with *cans* of soda next time, then.
Party pooper!
Either Melvin goofed with a spell or Liam spiked the punch. Looks like Holly doesn’t like Melvin paying attention to Red/Tiffany.
We kind of expected that, because, Holly doesn’t know who Tiffany is. Is there going to be a flash-back to that party? I don’t remember, any of, this from the Bachman days.

Panel 2 makes me think Saachi is bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet while talking.
