124: It Wasn’t ALL Bad, Was It?
Editor’s comment: This is such a cute page. 🙂
Author’s comment: But enough of all that cute, wholesome, and boring stuff! A lot of you were curious as to how the time traveling shenanigans of Jeanie could lead this events on the MC. What went wrong (or right, depending on who you ask) on this timeline? What could put Melvin and Red against each other? How did Clarence even become a girl in this timeline? What lead to this moment? And why in God’s name is Kazom so buff?! Well, at first those questions were meant to remain unanswered, with Jeanie just going back to mess with the timeline once again, and all that. But you guys wanted those answers, and I wanted to draw more of Evil Tiffany, so, I present to you:
Melvin Chronicles: RE-Chronicled! A mini arc, detailing the events of this mysterious timeline, starting next week, over at my Patreon for all members of the Scarlet Avenger Tier. With some small extras and bonuses available for the other tiers! I hope you enjoy it. It’s not like your new Dark Mistress would allow for anything else!
Yes, you can always count on a Eldritch Chaos God to follow the ordered plan Melvin, there is no chance that this can go wrong. Now, how long till we start calling Melvin by a new name like Melony.
Yes, what can possibly go wrong? Let us count the ways…
any idea when this new mini arc will appear on the website? asking for some fans.
For now, the arc will start publishing next week on my Patreon. The schedule has’t been entirely decided, neither it’s duration. Either once it’s finish, or a good chunk of content is available at the very least, I may think of how and when to make it public.
At this point, Tiffany has been a girl for almost a year now and we can see some comfortableness in her being a girl and even has a good girlfriend now. We saw the same thing happen in Jeanie life of becoming a girl body ans soul. We already know that Melvin going to fail in his efforts to turn Tiffany back into into Clarence now even with his best effort. Along with the alternate time of Clarence being turned into Tiffany along with other witches magic being used on Tiffany, I wonder just how interested is Tiffany is interested in becoming Clarence again or even how important a matter it is that she turn back into a guy now. There still may be a small part of Tiffany left that want to be transformed back into a guy now. We will just have to wait and see what happens.
At this point, I’m reading Red as “I’d like to be my old self again, but it is NOT worth taking crazy risks over”. She would rather continue to put up with it than see Melvin get himself seriously hurt trying to remedy it.
That kind of my take on it too. She may still kind like to be her old self again, but, it not worth getting hurt or killed over it or getting Melvin hurt or killed over it either. She kind of at the half way point now of accepting being girl and being able to go back to being a guy now. There kind of a slow process of accepting being a girl named Tiffany gradually becoming part of her thinking now. It not complete yet, but, it in an advanced state of being now.
It’s not like there hasn’t been some benefits (lots of VIP access to cons, if nothing else, and a new best friend). I think the key is Red blames Jeanie for her predicament while Melvin blames himself. Red never blamed Melvin even when she was distraught in the early aftermath of her change. Melvin risking himself to fix Jeanie’s mistake can only make things worse, not better.
Though it may be possible that Melvin’s efforts may do something to turn their friendship into something deeper in a “rescue romance” kind of way. There have been hints in some of the background chatter that Red’s transformation could be part of a deeper plot to control Melvin. Though it’s not clear if people are bluffing to strengthen their own claims, retconning reality to their benefit, or just trying to capitalize on the opportunity she presents. Heck, Lazarra might just think she’d make a good match for her nephew.
Oh, and in researching this answer I reminded myself that Lazarra, in addition to supposedly being Melvin’s aunt (possibly great aunt) appears to be scheming to use Red to foil Helen Griffin’s claim on Melvin. And Charlie appears convinced that Melvin has designs on Red based on her “Walsh blood”. Though I have to wonder if Melvin can truly be considered Helen’s fiancé when Melvin doesn’t know about it unless there are spells or oaths in place to enforce the claim.
Ooh, and here’s a corker: What if the original plan to mix Clark and Walsh blood involved hitching Mary to Melvin’s father? A plan that Mary scuppered by getting prematurely knocked up with Red and Lazarra hastily reactivated when Red’s genderbender restored the possibility?
@Pilgrim, that interesting, it make you wonder how long they been planning this thing with Tiffany or what kind of power struggle that is going on inside the different witches guilds or factions vying for control over who get Melvin and the book that he caring too. We don’t know who the birth father of Red either, that may be something that we need to know, why Red is so important to them. Did Lazarra set Mary up to get knocked up by Red birth father, kind of like a sacrificial lamb. Because, I don’t think that Mary was in on what was going on in the beginning, especially when they found out she had a boy and not a girl baby. Did Jeanie re-activate there original plan when she turned Clarence into a girl for them. We know that both witches and genies can do time travels into the past using there magic to get there. We know there not omi knowledge of knowing everything and do make mistake and they do screw thing up a bit when try to do stuff like this.
Yeah, I personally think Red’s transformation was a wild card that everyone is scrambling to play to their advantage. And I don’t think Mary is in on anything beyond seeking redemption for past indescretions.
@Pilgrim
That reminds me, Melvin and Helen have yet to meet each other, haven’t they?
Cue “The Golden Girls” theme.
