BACH-MANN
Can’t fill those mountain cups with her molehills now. Alas, poor Red!
Kazom needs to teach Melvin how to remove his magic that is causing her to be “downsized”.
Hey Red: Time to pop in some falsies.
Ida’s got this.
Except I don’t think Red’s worried about just her bust size. She’s worried not only about having a bust at all, but the social role that goes along with it–as represented by the costume.
She’s struggling with being female at all, and has to repeatedly expose herself to the clumsiest possible male adulation–that of nerds.
As they say when faced with a situation that you can’t do anything about:
1. You first get mad at the situation and rebel against it and throw a tantrum about what going on.
2. With no apparent resolution to there problem in sight, they go passive for awhile longer.
3. Like the Phoenix, they start the process of rebuilding themselves at some level so they can function.
4. They start to get curious as to who they are now. Leaning to act like a girl would fit in here.
5. The start of the process of accepting her new roll as a hot female fashion modal for a magazine and modal for that new game that everybody wants. Although Red will resist it in the beginning, seeing guys going funny faced over a hot girl when ever they see her. She may even get to like it someday.
6. To fully accept who she is and to be conferrable within her own skin and may even like it.
That where Ida come in. She play a roll of being both a mentor for Red and being a kind of a female friend to Red and Red need both of those things right now. So she can learn to act like a proper lady that she suppose to be. Red Idealizes Ida and thinks the world of her. Which is good, it help to smooth out Red transition from being Clarence to being Red. Red being in an all girl school high too, this is the only time Red get to spend with the guys. This being so, Red male side will drowned and there will be primarily just a female side of Red with a distant remembrance of having been a male once a pone a time in the past. Guys talk about girls in there group and girls talk about guys in there group and Red primarily in the Group most of the time hearing about those hunks from other girls. And when there in mexst groups like right now, they talk about other things mostly if they talk at all.
But, Red already gone through, #1, #2 and is mostly finishing up going through #3 too. Red still going through #4 and #5, with Ida help. It will be awhile before Red reaches #6, that going to take awhile for Red to both emotionally and mentally hit that level of development.
A heavy burden indeed.
It’s the burden–the challenge–faced by all male-female gender bender stories–and most of them fail dismally by ignoring it completely. Jeanie plays it for laughs, and rarely has to face the reality of being female. Typhan-Knee of Exiern pretends it doesn’t exist; she’s a warrior first, a woman as little as she can manage. Misfiled Ash is a racing turtle; she barely has a life off the track.
It looks, BACH-MANN, that you are going to take a closer look. ‘Bout time.
And I am begging you, on bended knee, kowtowing, forehead firmly against the floor, PLEASE don’t assume that the only real strength is the male strength. PLEASE help Red to be a woman, and not just a boy in a girl suit.
And please please please give her a strong male she trusts enough to be soft around.
Not Kazom.
😉 the comic gods have heard thee.
BACH-MANN: Appropriate sacrifices have been made.
Wow, the return to color is gorgeous, and very welcome. Thank you, Bach-Mann!
Thank you. I will do all chapter covers in color. I don’t know if I can do the same in the strip or not.
Every once in awhile a color strip would be nice when a new character is introduced that will be seen often or the color would help explain the strip better. I’m not even saying the whole strip but one of the panels when it helped the action/telling of the story.
I’m still wondering what the BACH-MANN had in mind for this chapter of chapters nearly three years later. Was the title yet another reference to bigger boobs? Kinda looks like the breastplate hanging up was built with even bigger bazongas in mind than the ones hiding under Red’s towel. However, not as big as Carlos has been drawing them since he took over the comic.
