Chapter: Journey to the Cave of Wonders
Characters: Holly Smythe, Tiffany "Red" Thornton
Uh oh… Appealing to Red’s dislike of Holly might actually work.
Uh oh… Appealing to Red’s dislike of Holly might actually work.
oy vey, Rosie’s brainwashing Red.. AND hitting her right where it hurts the most.
Whole ‘lotta Rosie!
As opposed to Holly telling Melvin that Red is wearing a cursed ring.
Now I wonder how Red is going to silence Holly.
She doesn’t need to silence her if she made her claim seem ridiculous enough.
On the other hand, if she keeps talking with two voices like Smeagol, even silencing Holly wouldn’t help.
Just like on her previous appearance, Rose seems quite inoffensive, even pathetic. But when cornered, she proves herself quite adept at pressing the right buttons.
Clap for the Wolfman!
What does the ‘Warmallet Codex of the Fay Folk’ say? Be interesting to see how accurate it is, maybe some groups try to put real warning out to the public. Or, is it that it is easier to hide if everyone thinks it is fiction?
For maximal fun, both the “let’s put real warning out” and “accurate enough fiction can cover reality” groups can be working TOGETHER on getting it out.
While we have yet to outright confirm this malevolent entity to be Rose, it seems irrefutable. Each passing comic makes it more clear. That silhouette in panel 3 with the horns and pointed ears is more evidence.
At this point, I’d let Holly have the win. Maybe try to be friends with her.
I think Holly needs a totem to bring to “Master” right along with Red. Easiest method of avoiding trouble is for everyone to share responsibility, after all.
On page 194 Melvin sent Red off to find a totem, something “to contain magic powers.” Didn’t he even consider the fact that an empty totem might suck up Tiffany, or Holly? What she found might be significantly better, but not by much.
I don’t believe Melvin is aware of what an empty genie totem can do. The topic never came up when Jeanie was around while he was in the room, and Kazom wouldn’t have had much reason to explain the bit of genie lore to him.
Of course, merely FINDING a totem doesn’t mean you have to open it. And cautions about not opening (or rubbing) genie bottles are pretty well known, even among the general [non-magic using] populace.
Yeah… I don’t put so much trust in “nobody would be so dumb” reassurances.
Points at Jeanie.
Well, as Jean wasn’t aware that genies or magic existed …
Reading between the lines, there has to be something else at work too. Our hypothetical idiot who becomes the next genie can’t be the only person who came in in contact with that totem. Especially if it’s found in an antiques shop. The thief who stole Rouya’s/Jeanie’s bottle for example. There has to be something else about that person or the circumstances, even if it’s just the rule of funny. Jean and Jehane were both die-hard “I Dream of Jeannie” fans. Remember Kazom’s response on seeing Jean? “Oh, you’re one of *those* genies.”
“Oh, you’re one of *those* genies.”
So, that comment implies that there are a bevy of Barbara Eden look alike genies out there. Come on, guys, bring ’em on.
We saw several.
Maybe everyone that handled the bottle before Jean were wearing gloves.
Or KEPT IT CLOSED.
