What, Melvin has a Dad instead of a Mom now? Or is that Melvin? He’s pretty well knit.
It’s Melvin (counted the…bangs? 2 not 3 like on his mom). Knit? Is that like ripped? I would say he’s just thin (distinct lack of six-pack).
Not ripped, no, but not soft, either. Well defined.
So Kazom cast a sleep spell, at least, on Susan from his tail?
Do genies even cast spells?

I’d say the mom is ok, a little stunned, with a “don’t remember the last few minutes” spell.

Yes, Melvin mother OK, Kazom cast a sleep spell, so she would not see what going on. It might cause a problem is she see what happening. Melvin finally got out of that book and maybe get dressed before Susan wake up.

By the looks of it, I don’t think Kazom meant to freeze Susan. It was probably just instictual.
Why is he looking out the blinds again? Maybe for suspicious van. He seemed to do that after last bought of magic also. Men in black were in a van too, weren’t they?
Panel 8 has a glow. It looks like after checking if the coast was clear he used magic to get the kid out of the book.
