Well, even if you’re stuck with an unwanted gender change, you’d at least want to be attractive.
I think it’s got more to do with her thinking that Jeannie has been magically screwing with her the whole time, and she doesn’t know why.

Interesting, though, that Kazom can detect traces of magic spells and identify the caster. Which makes me wonder if witches can do the same… ? [The blonde punk girl…?]
Kazom is presumably very familiar with Thomas’ (Melvin’s father’s) magic, so if bloodlines matter for anything in magic “signatures”, then he’d be able to recognize Melvin’s. Even if not, it’s probably easy to distinguish the “Genie” magic from the “Witch” magic, at least for an experienced Genie like Kazom.

Melvin was trying to help out a friend. She was not happy with the large breast size, at least in the moment, and Melvin does not have the experience and wisdom to know when to leave something alone.
Actually, I think Melvin didn’t even do it intentionally. His powers seem to operate off his subconscious.

Like it or not, the boob reduction has helped Red’s back feel better.
Red’s pretty young, and in good shape; I doubt she has any issues there, yet. But give it another 15 years.
Also, if Red’s bras were improperly fitted, then the discomfort would be amplified and the amount of actual support reduced. I could definitely see Red as wearing poorly-fitting bras if she refused to get properly measured and instead just tried on stuff off-the-rack until something kinda-fit.
@ijuinkun: Well, that’s true enough. Besides which, human bodies vary in many dimensions beyond just the typical sizes; two garments of the exact same size from different manufacturers can fit VERY differently.
But I suspect that her discomfort was probably more due to the novelty factor; she’s been a girl now for, what – a couple of weeks, maybe? Going from flat to fluffy takes time to adjust.
Females also have to take into account where the garment was made. Sure it could be the same brand, but if it was made Japan as opposed to Germany, the fit may also be different.
Can we also all just acknowledge that this is a story with FICTIONAL characters in a universe with genies, magics and tons of others irrealistic things. So making a young girl in this comic with quite a large chest and no back pain (maybe her breast aren’t that heavy because….magic!) is probably THE SMALLER of all the worries this comic strip could have.
After all we have seen, bending a tiny bit the law of gravity for that is quite ok i’d say.
Let’s just pray and hope Red will get her big chest back and maybe even a little extra cup size with it and be just happy about it.

Oh, my archived teenage persona can think of several HILARIOUS things to do with that, starting with strapless evening gowns on the well endowed.
You do realize, CD, how rich someone with boob size changing magic could be?
Plastic surgeons that do both breast enlargement and reduction, are some of the best payed surgeons in todays world. Some of them have waiting lists that are months long, the surgery itself takes an hour or two, and recovery is a few weeks, minimum.
Think how much Hollywood starlets would pay to be able pop in in the late afternoon, get their boobs altered to their taste, and get out in time for that red carpet gala event in the evening.
You’d be able to fill Scrooge McDuck’s Money Bin in no time flat.
I’m more concerned with what a teenager would do with that ability. I DOUBT making money would be on the top of the list.
Yes, the stereotypical teenaged male would probably prefer a different sort of payment for such a service. . .

Actually, Jeanie has never appeared in T.M.C. so far. The tournament incident Red refers to, was when Jeanie had an allergic reaction to alcohol. Red just assumed it was Jeanie.

The boob shrinkage happened in Comic 88 and Comic 89.
The temporary reversion happened in Comic 31 and Comic 32. It was caused by Jean in IDOJB Comic 314 where all Jeanie’s current magic enchantement goes wanky from her poison’d sneezing fit.
That’s a good point – Comic #31 just doesn’t even show up – Bach-Mann?

Actually, Jeanie sneezing fit is what turned Red back into a boy and BJ into a girl for an instant according to both CD Rudd post and his link too. It was Melvin that shrank Red breast according CD Rudd post and links. Once Red find out that Melvin can shrink her breast, it will be interesting to see how she responds to it or if she try to get Melvin to turn her back into a boy again, assuming that he can do it. There a possibility that he can’t use counter magic on Red to turn Red back into a guy.
But, now the word out that Melvin can do magic and now there going to be looking at both Kazom and Melvin when ever something mysterious happens and Jeanie too.
I just occurred to me that Ida still doesn’t know if she believe everything she hearing yet. In panel two, Ida appears to be almost surprised that Red complaining on having her breast shrunken. Back when Red breast were first shrunken, Ida had already concluded that it was just her imagination or something other than the use of magic shrank Red Breast.
That the look of surprise on Ida face. Oh, yes, look at the small breast.
Actually, I think Ida is getting a full view of the goods as Red threw her bra out the window of Ida’s car (#94).
I wouldn’t call it surprise. I think it’s more of a “Oh….THAT’S what happened” look. Remember, she self-justified it as not realizing Red padded her bra before. Now that talking kitty has ripped the veil away from her eyes, she’s probably going to have to rethink a few assumptions and justifications in her life before now.
You know, the interesting thing is that Red actually seems pissed that she’s flat-chested again.
Brings to mind the saying about being careful what you ask for, because you might get it.
Yeah, that’s kind of odd.
I suspect her problem isn’t the reduction, it’s that it’s happening at random, completely outside her control.
And it doesn’t fix the problem that she’s still female.
Perhaps since she now knows that Mel can at least modify Jeanie’s spell, she can have a chance to decide what she really wants, short of removing Jeanie’s spell entirely.
If one has to be a girl; one might as well be a well stacked girl.
Else you’d just be a girl, and what’s the advantage of that?

WHY is she upset about this? She was JUST complaining about them, and besides, that makes her at least 10% of the way back to being her former self. Isn’t that a step in the right direction?
