I’m so glad Holly’s not a dumb blond.
Just a note, but with her hair color, it’s kind of hard to tell if Saachi has a ponytail or the worst anime bedhead ever without zooming in. And even then, the dividing line is tough to distinguish. I don’t know if you can do anything about that or not, but I just wanted to point that out (although it could just be that my eyes are shite, come to think).
Also, Carlos, I’m wondering how long Holly has known Saachi in your version of all this. Mostly because I’m curious whether or not she (Holly) took it well when she (Saachi) told Holly that she’s a lesbian.
Saachi doesn’t hide her attraction to girls and they’re still friends. So one has to assume Holly has no issues with it.
I would assume that Saachi and Holly have been friends for at lest since the 7th grade if not earlier. There in 10th grade now.
I’m pretty sure there is a ponytail there. Just kind of a wild one.
And according to the cast page, Holly and Saachi “grew up together”. So they have known each other for a number of years, at least.
@He Who Abides In regards your difficulties to see the dividing line in Saachi’s ponytail, it may have something to do with your monitor settings, none the less, I will work to improve on this in the future.
As for Saachi’s and Holly relationship, yep, the cast page already established them to be as close as sisters, so Holly has know about Saachi’s preferences for some time now, even if Saachi’s isn’t as open about this as it may seem (looking back, Melvin didn’t see that one coming back in the previous run), similar as I don’t want to fall into stereotypes in regards her Indian heritage, I want to avoid most tropes and cliches about LGBTQ people as posible, so I am making my best to writhe Saachi as I would writhe any other girl in the story, with her main quirk being how perceptive and talkative she is, and not so much the fact that she is lesbian, even if, again for her talkative nature, I can assure you, she wouldn’t shut up about Red if she has the chance to bring her up!
@Carlos – cool, thanks. I’m pretty sure it’s got more to do with my eyes being shite than either your colors or my monitor, but I appreciate you doing what you can.
Well, Holly remember both the older and younger Jeanie, the shadow man and M.I.B. man. She remembers Melvin in the being transported to Saachi pouch to. even if it only limited and barely understood by Holly. So Holler has a good memory.
Wow, Saachi doesn’t waste any time in putting the pressure on.
I am curious to know what happened during the ‘party’. Sounds like Melvin’s magic was acting up again.
Saachi’s has been dealing with Melvin and Holly for months now, trying to get them together and have a chance to know Tiffany better, and so far she has only got a date that she can’t barely remember, two months ago! can’t you blame her for getting a little impatience about this?
As to what actually happened at that party, some answers are about to come!
I think the easy way to explain would be to introduce her to Kazom. (Because let’s face it without a demonstration along the lines of a talking cat or magic the later he still seems to have trouble with she’s not likely to believe him) The question is would Kazom cooperate? With the talking part, we already know magic is a know go.
How many people *do* know what happened with Red?
Interesting question, funny enough, CD ask me the same question short after I introduce JJ to him, the short answer without any spoiler would be around 20 people know that Clarence and Tiffany are the same person, not counting any type of groups than may or may not be spying on Melvin and Co.
Of this 20 people, only five know the full story, being Melvin, BJ, JJ, Kazom and Ida (Jeanie most likely doesn’t even remember Red, so I don’t count her), then nine know that her sudden change wasn’t natural, but don’t know how it happen, this include her parents, some family, and a couple of well paid doctors and lawyers.
The remaining six, well, they know that Clarence and Tiffany are the same person, but they may have their own ideas about how this is posible, and none of them is even close to the true.
I still think Holly actually did materialize a war mallet off of her night shirt in panel #55. There is more to Holly then we know about yet. Like a good detective she is putting all of the clues together but her sidekick, Saachi, is to focused on Red to be of much help. Maybe the Scarlet Avenger will have to rescue holly and Saachi from the butterfrog.
Sorry for bring this up again, I really want to leave space open for you guys to speculate and make theories, but again, as far as my current plot goes, Holly did NOT materialize any mallet into Melvin’s room that night, there are already some visual cues in that same page to let people know that she was just half dreaming, but most important, the Mallet in question disappeared pretty soon in that same scene, and neither Melvin, nor Kazom talk at any moment about the mallet, so, from a story standpoint, I can’t bring myself to make that mallet a real thing.
With that said, there is an actual reason as to why Holly is such a good detective, and I promise, from this point onwards I intend to make her a more active part of the plot.
I know that Carlos has already spoke on the subject. As far as that war mallet, there are several possibilities here. Besides the possibility of Holly having the ability to do that that Gary mentioned and basically Carlos shot down. Holly could have been dreaming of using a War Mallet when Melvin transported her to his room. That could be a Dream War Mallet that wasn’t real, but, was given a certain amount of physical substance before Holly woke up and it disappeared. Carlos doesn’t have to do this, but, he could have Malvin wedged unconsciously a War Mallet in Holly Concuss and Unconscious or the cross over between the Dream World and when Holly awake. Holly War Mallet could appear or disappear in times of tress out or when it is need. Like Melvin the War Mallet is probably the game that Holly like and maybe secretly wishes that she could pull out a War Mallet when she needs it.
FYI, the link to go from page 15 to 16 is broken. The next button is greyed out.
Awesome work by the way Carlos, I like how the plot is thickening.
It seems to be working now. Page 15’s cached version probably expired, so the server rebuilt it with the knowledge that page 16 exists now.
Awesome, thank you Robert.
MFPITWWW = Most Favorite Person In The Whole Wide World
Anyway, Saachi probably has the right idea with proposing to simply cut the Gordian Knot. They’re certainly not making any further progress by simply standing back and speculating further.
Ah, but girls love to sit around and speculate. Walking over and asking directly would take all the fun out of it.
Really? My girlfriend charges right in. And oftentimes just starts throwing punches.
I suspect I have a defective woman . . .
@He Who Abides, I don’t know if she defective, but, she is definitely from the way that most women act. Most of them seem to act in a defensive way or seem to retreat under fire. Very seldom do I see one act the way that your saying. Her being defective is one possibility, but, then having a healthy self esteem and not putting up with someone that attacks them isn’t the way that most girls act, but, it not necessary a defective condition, it just a quality that we aren’t use to seeing in most girls. It not that they can’t have that quality and not that it might not be a good quality to have, it just doesn’t look normal to the way that girls act.
@Larry – it was a joke based on her self-proclaimed title “Kim the Defective Girl” in high school. A lot of people assumed she was a stereotypical “sexually repressed studious Asian chick” (one guy’s words), but out of our little group (me, her, and my three sisters) she was the most likely to put a beating on people over really anything. From what I hear, the story of her beating the shit out of our school’s starting center is still told today.
Holly wasn’t asleep or dreaming when she was poofed into Melvin’s room, she was brushing her teeth. I might be wrong about that but it’s what it looks like to me, though I have no idea why she would take off her glasses to brush her teeth. I am going to assume that her little sister (Molly?) snatched them off her face right before she disappeared. In any case her thoughts indicate that she believed that she was dreaming even though she really was awake.
I am extremely nearsighted and pretty much only take my glasses off for bed.
